Avoid that hobby shop near the food court at all costs. They are selling the composite AAs for $300 and sealed Kyosho for $200.

Oh don't you worry. I know firsthand that physical shops like them sell higher than retail, since they're in the same position as us if we became resellers. I've got a closer flea market that sells old Hot Wheels for twice its sellable value.

Plus, I'm all the way in 'Sauga. The only thing I'd hit up Markham for is for the food. :sly:

Nah, only the Chinese shops would sell them that much higher than normal. There is an old Chinese saying that "one sale equals 3 years".

Top Marques posted some more pics. Still unsure if the body proportions look correct:

That's an adage I've never heard of, nor makes a lot of sense right meow.

Found pics and a video of some TSM 1:12 bikes:

Good alternative choices to AutoART's Keibu if Keibu is not your jam. Amiami says 1/18, but if my eyes don't deceive me, these are totally pics of 1/43.

They call this the Roadster. Could just be a hard top painted black for all we know right meow.

The Eunos variant of the MX-5 was called the Eunos Roadster.

Does anyone else make a Toyota FT-1 scale model? (That's licensed) Jada finally released pictures of their model. I'm sure it won't be great considering their usual quality, but I'm glad it's stock.

Don't think TSM would bother with 1/500, since a fighter jet is awfully tiny in that scale :sly:
Most likely starting with the F-14A as more or less a way to test the waters, since the Tomcat is one of the most popular fighters around. Don't really see TSM doing airliners or other heavies if they do continue with more aircraft lol

Anyway testing a new setup for taking pics, still need to practice more tho...

If you find you're not getting enough light in areas you want it to be in, use reflectors on the side or something.

The hardest thing to work with with black backdrops is getting sufficient light. If you see my photos, I only use one overhead, but I let the white backdrop put some light on the lower half as well, so that makes it super easy.

Great to see you're putting time and effort into this, dude.

Thanks. Still trying various light positions and such, but also I do need a camera with more options. The one I usually use has a couple stuck pixels and it is super noticeable on a black backdrop. Probably going to be getting a new camera in a few weeks or so. Anyway here are some more test pics, I think I got lighting for the most part down, though may try moving the lights a little further away for more diffusion:

More testing... Canon PowerShot Elph 110HS (top) vs Canon PowerShot A650IS (bottom):

Only editing was to resize them. Might be able to see the stuck pixel on the A650's image.

My only personal beef with what you're doing is putting the light on the front and neglecting the far edges. Reminds me of family pics with the flash on.

Is it at all possible to stick some kind of light source above so the back end doesn't look left out?

I have 3 lights, a top one and one on each side. The side ones are at roughly a 45 degree angle. I could move the top one a bit further back though.

Getting better. I still think the back side is too dark overall if your goal in the photo was to convey as much information of the subject matter, because some of the darker bits are blended into the background. That black Ferrari is a prime example.

For reflective surfaces, it helps if you think of it from the perspective of the camera; which part of the car am I looking at and if I picture an imaginary "laser" line bouncing off that surface, where does it go? Where it goes is where you'll want to position your light.

Or you can look at it from vice-versa from the perspective of the light source traveling to the lens. Perhaps that may help.

Well, I am pretty much going to have to start over anyway, since I plan on redoing many of these with a better camera soon lol. Will have to learn all the nuances of a new camera and how it reacts to the same setup. But thanks for the tips :)

Also, you do not know how much I want that BBR 488 GTE. Just not enough to spend $400 on it tho -__-
I do believe LookSmart is going to do it for about half that price though, iirc...

Typical CBSA. Greedy bastards. The model looks amazing though.

Was only charged $99 for a $900 purchase back in 2015 for a package from Germany. That's about 10%, whereas this is closer to 15%.... for $500.

See kids? "5%" may not sound like a lot.... but it adds up!

I bought a gunpla magazine from Japan about a decade ago, the package itself was worth 900 yen and these mo*******kers from CBSA charged me 10 CAD for it.

900 yen.

That was the final time I imported a Japanese magazine.
