GTPLMS Round 2 Results

GTP Le Mans Series
Mt. Fuji Grand Prix

Wow, what a race. Qualifying saw ICallShotgun taking 3 out of 4 poles, and newcomer east taking the GT pole. Qualifying was very close, showing the parity of cars and drivers in this intense series. GTS had three drivers within .400 of each other, with GT having 8 out of 11 drivers within 2 seconds, all 11 within 4.

Races sorted out a little differently. Stewards action had to be taken against a driver running illegally prepared tires. The times will stand, but Championship points and finishing position are stripped from the records. The driver involved was privately talked to by the Race Steward and understands the infractions and penalties.

As for the on-track action, the Prototype categories saw newcomer Earth take P1 victory, with P2 going to ICallShotgun after penalties were assessed. Upon learning of the steward's decision, 'Gun was heard to comment "I really didn't want to win this way, but when something like that comes up, there's nothing the stewards can do except what was done"

Touring Car saw the Drewpyballs Comedy Racing team of Drew22 and ballstothewallwith podium finishes in GTS and GT, with ICallShotgun playing spoiler in GTS and the crafty veteran oldphart getting a podium in GT. Close racing throughout GT saw positions 3-6 decided by less than 5 seconds.

Overall a very successful event. GTPLMS competition is heating up, and with more teams finishing car preparations, Round 3 at Midfield is shaping up to be a real battle.

Earth Shotgun Balls and Drew .. would i be correct to assume you all used RS tyres in Fuji ?

I used RM's the whole way in GTS and a combo of RM's and RS's in GT (I think) Running the JGTC for two seasons I've found RM's to be the most used tire with an occasional final stint with RS's. I've never run RH's, 90% of all my races are RM's.

Congats to everyone, especially RACECAR for getting on the podium. I raced Fiji 80s instead of 90s, so thats where that MDNF came from... Its a shame, I though I was fast this week...oh well, on to Midfield!

GTS battle is heating up, I'm coming for you Andy.
I used RM the whole way, with 1 stop at lap 9. Tried RH then RS, RM and RM, and RS, RS, RS, but the 1-stop RM strategy gave me the fastest times consistently. Did the same for Prototype classes too, but the BMW in P1 has WAY too much power for the rears. had to run RM/RH combos.

And let me tell you guys, GT field was COMPLETE this week. All competitors finished the race and submitted times. Thank you all. Now we just need the Prototype fields to fill out, but I think a couple more teams will show up to Midfield.

Congrats all on the podium finishes, and I can't stress this enough, PLEASE watch the race threads, there's a lot of good information in them.

To DrewpyBalls in their continued dominace in GT. Amazing times there for both of you I ran a one stopper with RS's. Maybe I should've tried pushing the RM's a bit harder around that track. Just didn't have the time to run more than the RS's. Spent about 7 hrs. yesterday trying to play catch up. Very nicely done you two 👍

I'm surprised and pleased at the results

I was so shocked I went back and checked my replay to make sure I actually ran the right amount of laps etc

I used RM/RM tires. The tires wore evenly and I pitted just once at midway.

That was nice close finish. 5 seconds between each of the top 3 finishers.

my run with the Audi and the Vette were extremly bad this week my other runs i feel were good for me although i could probably drop 5-6 secs off the GT run o well onto next week

Ran RM/RH's on the Mac with a pit at 9 laps, and RM/RS for 11 & RS/RS for the remainder on the RX-7 (Nice strat there Drew:tup: )

Ran the Mac 4 or 5 times, and the RX probably 7-8 times (the last gasp run in the RX paid off this week)

Andy, that's why I refer to the car as a squirrel
It's as unstable as my ex
I'm beginning to get a feel for the thing though. Tranny braking more than pedal and have gotten the tire wear pretty even. This beast doesn't like the mix & match set of tires, or better said, I have trouble driving with a mixed set.

As for midfield, the car is great execpt for the quick right hander going into the hairpin, where I just get tossed into a spin. If I can figure that entry, I'll only be a few seconds behind you and Neil LOL
