school finished for me just in time :) now I can run what I feel is the most important event.

I was thinking that I was gonna be able to run this series even with school in, but then my teachers (mostly my english teacher) gave me a ton of work. Now that school's over I'll be sure to at least get GTS times in, if not LMP and GT1 as well.

Look out for Mostly Harmless Motorsports :mischievous:

I've really been looking forward to this round. The Panoz is great to drive here, and it should be naturally faster than the other GT1 cars because it can utilize its horsepower on the numerous straights. Plus, La Sarthe has always been just about my best track.

Also, to everyone, it's worth reflecting on this:

Series rules
Track is defined as area between the white lines

In many places, not only will you have to avoid driving with all four tires on dusty tarmac (which should be obvious) but you will also actually have to look at where the white lines go, because they are generally separated by some distance from the curbs. In other words, if you drive as you have been driving for the rest of the series, you will find yourself out of bounds even if two tires are on non-dusty tarmac that looks like track.

My first splits are 1'04.158 - 1'53.615 - 2'50.472. I have to say that the learning curve for driving in this way is pretty steep - three ways of driving at La Sarthe have been etched into my mind and thumbs (driving with two tires on hard surfaces, driving with two tires on curbs and two on dusty areas, and driving with all four tires on curbs and real pavement), and this is yet another different way. Some turn-in points are extremely hard to judge, such as those for the chicanes and especially for Tertre Rouge.

That rule was always going to throw up difficulties here but I wanted to remove any ambiguity for the whole series. Anyway, we all like a good challenge right? Tertre Rouge will be mighty tricky to time now tho, could easily lose 0.5 sec or more by being too carefull.

Those lines have narrowed the field, so to speak. Had to think going down the Mulsanne straight. No going too far to the left or right to get a better line into the chicanes.

I drifted onto the "putting green" on the outside of a right on the Porsche curves on a couple of laps but don't think I will be too much when I have learned the track.

 I did a great run, by that I mean I stayed inside the white lines and had a clean lap.
I came in this morning thinking I had a shot at the record lap...NOT even close :dopey:

First splits for LMP:

T2: 1'04.050
T4: 1'52.923
T6: 2'48.390

having one hell of a time staying inside the white lines, who comes up with these rules :)

"oldmodelt smiles as he's glad it's not him." :sly:

Have finished my runs. Will post splits later. Nothing great. But will have to do. That red tarmac looked so tempting.

edit:

LMP: 1'05.639 - 1'55.416 - 2'52.824

GT1: 1'07.335 - 1'59.997 - 3'01.098

Take a look at this thread, all the info you need is there. Pick your car & number then i'll add you to the entry list for this round 👍

You must have 2 or more wheels on the track at all times. The track is defined as the area between the white lines, so you can have up to 2 wheels on the rumble strips/ grass/ whatever but you must have 2 wheels on the track.

Made improvements on my splits:

T1: 1'03.075
T2: 1'50.772
T3: 2'46.019

sweet. *Edit* my Mclaren only goes up to 691ps

*edit* my fastest traps so far
T2:1'07.545
T4:1'58.924
T6:2'57.678

The power and weight figures are calculated so there will usually be a difference of 1 or 2 hp/kg in it. No need to worry!

Finally got a clean lap in GTS, here's my splits (I hope more GTS drivers will post their splits):
-T2: 1'11.150
-T4: 2'06.336
-T6: 3'09.453

I also got a clean lap in LMP, but I forgot to save the replay (and I didn't write down the time). So now I have to re-do it.

Edit: Re-did my LMP lap and got a clean GT1 lap the first lap I did today. Here's my splits for both:
LMP:
-T2: 1'03.989
-T4: 1'54.935
-T6: 2'51.631

GT1:
-T2: 1'07.656
-T4: 2'01.075
-T6: 3'02.084

I'm definitely going to go for more time in GTS, and if I can find enough time I'll try harder in LMP and GT1 as well.

I almost lopped off a couple of fingers yesterday. Purple and swollen today but all digits accounted for. I had recorded one decent lap for each class so that will have to work for this round.

Laps are done and submitted. The BMW V12 is FAST! Maybe with a car built for this track, I'll have a chance of winning. I was getting RL Pole Qualifying times with it.

I could've gotten about 3 seconds faster with the Panoz, but it was giving me issues.

The Pagani's lap felt good, though.

Submitted lap splits :

T2 1'01.069
T4 1'48.761
T6 2'43.489

so when will we know are starting places?

Starting places are not used in this series. Wt penalties are allocated based on your time/placing at the end of each race. Each driver then carries that wt penalty forward for the next race only.

I for example, received no extra wt penalty based on my finish at Fuji 90's. This remains in effect for this week's or in the case of the enduro races for two. Then a wt penalty is given to me based on my performance this week to carry forward to the next race which will be Cote d'Azur.

Here is the link for all the info you will need.

Good luck and good racing.

rats. I could've gotten second in GT1 if I had pushed it.

Speaking of GT1, I am curious what you plan to do for the next LMS, Abud, considering GT1 class and GT2 classes won't exist any more after this year. (at least at Le Mans) next year it'll be GT Endurance Pro and Amature. but both will be following GT2 rules.

I could avoid the problems by calling the current GT1 cars the LMP2 and calling GTS cars GT, or maybe i'll leave as is. Not thought about it yet!

I'm suprised for the pole position again as I left atleast one second on the track.
This round was really a nervekiller as keeping between the white lines reguired more concentrating than normally.

I had few laps in the 3'10's but they were "off track" once or twice in the whole lap.
I'm happy to be able to submit a 100% clean lap after alot time spent at La Sarthe.

I wonder , what were the specs people ran this qualify session last season?

Austin343's Toyota lap record was set at 787Bhp and 918kg, although I don't know if he was carrying any extra weight penalty. It's also worth noting that last season rumble strips counted as track so the laps were slightly quicker.

Congrats on all the podium sitters and see everyone at the race.

Looking at last year's threads, I had finished second in the previous race for a presumable +3% weight penalty, and you actually decided to use the white lines as the track boundaries last year, after some confusion and debate. :) La Sarthe has just always been my best track, and I guess that this year's and last year's results bear that out. By the way, something peculiar has happened to the standings in last year's Round 3 Race thread - I invite you to see what I mean.

If anyone wants to see my lap, I recorded it, and it's below.
