The penultimate round of the season takes place at one of the hardest places to race in the world, the streets of Monte Carlo. With the standings being so close every point is essential and qualifying here is sure to be tough. But how on earth will people cope with the AI in the race:dunce:

Feel free to discuss sector times only, but no discussion of final lap times is allowed.

Ah, the infamous Monaco circuit. It was interesting to watch Iron Man 2 and try to determined where the big fight took place. Looked like it happened just after the chicane.

BTW, when I put the track name in a translator, all I get is "Rivera."

Well i've had a quick 30min thrash about and got these splits:

T1: 21.598
T2: 58.218

I really did enjoy the challenge of dodging the barriers whilst braking as late as possible. I left a decent bit of time out there, mainly being late on the gas at Portier. I'm gonna try a few different lines though cos I really haven't driven around here much.

The race is going to be so tough, getting through it with no DTPs will be some achievement!

yeah. It should be noted that this track was mainly designed for F1 cars and NOT for the big race cars we're racing on it. So, because of this, there's a lot less passing areas. Turns 5 and 11 will be your best passing corners.

Not that F1 cars ever pass during the GP. I think we'll have to do a subtle bit of AI bumping to get past (but be carefull not to get a DTP for it). Anyways thats for next week :)

ABud, Being on top of the LMP leaderboard must have gone to your head. Too much excitement. The GT1 Entry List has gone AWOL.

Guys, In case he's out of contact. The 3 guys ahead of me at Sarthe get the +5/3/1 wt penalty. here at Cote d'Azur :)

I'm looking forward to running here. Much different than when I was testing for ABud for GTPLMS #5. Never really ran on this track. BSpecced the FGT race :guilty:. But after all the testing and the V8 Championship and my series I'm at least comfortable with the track.

My T's are much in line with yours. 3 tenths or so and little over a second slower on 1 & 2. The wheelspin on the Bentley is troubling. I am considering using TCS in the race with the Bentley to reduce possible screwups. Anybody else considering it?

[Also I have to add that this has been the most frustrating series. This Bentley (LMP division) is not fun at all. I cannot get a feel for the car other than going fast!!
I like racing much better on the slower cars, was having thoughts of changing divisions (possibly to GTS again) after the 2nd race but decided to stick it through! and have to say LMP
is not for me! /QUOTE]

I on the other hand do enjoy the Bentley. But I'm also not traveling at the same speeds as you guys. I would probably have the same issue with wheelspin at a track like Hong Kong. :grumpy:

Times submitted.

LMP 21.964 - 59.791
GT1 22.904 - 1'02.134

I did a few laps yesterday with the top speed of 350 or 60, and never shifted below 3rd.
2nd has too much wheel spin.
21.500
58.120 <<< saw a 57.8xx but i crashed on the last turn :grumpy:

I won't have time to race again this week :(, as I have to get ready for camping this weekend :) will submit latter what I have.

After a few laps, I have a 21.908 - 58.460, so the Panoz is apparently pretty good here. Driving fast cars at this track is fine, but the soft tires are just too much. :yuck: If you brake a tiny bit too early, you stop before the corner, and if you turn in a tiny bit too early, you knock down the guardrail. Their grip also seems fickle, particularly in Portier (both turns), Tabac, and Anthony Noghes, where it seems like the car intermittently just goes straight without an obvious reason.

I am running the same time as you right now.. 'cept in LMP :scared:

OK, so I feel pretty confident that I went as fast as I could.. and that my friends, will have to be "good enough" Times sent.

I think I'm going to just run the Pagani for the rest of the season. Now that I'm working, and with the possibility of getting a PS3 soon, I'm not looking to spend a lot of time with GT4. (other than trying to complete the career mode.)

On that note here are my GTS splits:
T1: 0'24.511
T2: 1'04.723

I could have gone a little faster, but getting a perfect lap on this track is hard. That said, the Zonda felt at home here. Very smooth. Handled the tight hairpin like a pro.

Hey guys. Been a long while so I've had to relearn quite abit (including the buttons ). I forgot how oversteer prone these cars are with these physics so it took me abit to get used to. Once I got settled in, I started feeling confortable. The giant leap from GT5P to GT4 is much bigger then when I did from GT4 to GT3. I don't expect a front row start given how much I've had to learn again, but at least I'm back on the horse.

T1: 0'23.123

T2: 1'03.789

Times will be submitted as I post this.

I am absolutely ecstatic with these results. I didn't think I would be competitive. When applying the brake the pressure is on my broken finger about 1/2" from the crack and I can really feel it. Congratulations to all competitors!

G'Day all !
Have started to clear the backlog of video productions / uploads.
Here are a couple of GTPLMS vids to go on with :

Round 4 @ Fuji : http://www.box.net/shared/static/dumkzo3fzl.wmv

Round 6 @ Cote d'Azur : http://www.box.net/shared/static/o2l43qjz4d.wmv

Now to post a few CTC & TTCRS vids.
Feedback on video/sound quality would be appreciated.

Regards.

Great quality!~ I wish everyones were like that! Your line at the Massanet sweeper was something I put a lot of effort into but never fared than well.. nice work, fantastic drive!

Thank you very much fogbound for the feedback.
I really appreciate it 👍
It can be difficult balancing video quality and file size but I think I have worked out a good compromise.

Good luck in the next round !
