GTS in PS VR - PS4 Pro vs. PS4

Hey there, so as you all know, PS4 Pro is more than twice as fast than PS4 vanilla, so I think there should be a really big improvement when using PSVR. Sadly, I cannot find any information about it. I do have PSVR and PS4 Pro but I cannot compare it.

Has anyone tried that, or has any information about this? Am I missing something?

Thanks.

May I suggest you go onto YouTube and search for something like "psvr ps4 pro comparison"

I quickly found a short video from a guy who has both versions of PS4, PSVR and DIRT Rally

His view is that there are (what I would call significant) differences, but both PS4's provide an enjoyable experience

Happy hunting

Does anyone know how to stop the fading out to black when you turn your head and it goes through the car? I can't actually play it in vr anymore because every time i turn my head to look into the corner it goes black and it defeats the purpose of driving in vr. Stupid design choice on their behalf.

If you watch the above video, it says that this misfortune event has to be corrected most probably with a future patch. ;)

Well I haven't played much VR on my PS4 Pro because it gave me a bit of a headache and made me spaced out after a long session on Rigs, Dirt Rally and DriveClub ;) and the thought of sorting all these wires out ! . But I set it all up again today and have to say I am very impressed with the free PSVR races in GT Sport.

First impressions jumping in again are the detail and reflections in the mirrors (Side and rear) they are like real glass. The detail of the interiors are outstanding and the tracks them selves are very well done. Pretty much the same as the main game but in 1080p. The draw distance is great and not too blurred.

There are some time of days are missing (usually only a choice of 3) and you can not adjust your seat or arm positions like in DC and DRally. It is a fixed position and i found I was sitting too low for this but after some 'shufflin' :sly: I managed to raise my position and it was pretty realistic taking the Porsche 911 GT3 fast around Tokyo Express looking at the massive tall buildings or looking out the Drop top roof on the MX-5, or down the long drop at Fishermans Ranch.

Also the VR tour of the cars in the garage is limited to a quick move around the car (which is very detailed when your nose is up against the caliper) but I thought we would be able to open doors and view inside like DC... :indiff:

I haven't set the wheel up again with the VR too as I find that there are too many wires with the VR, my headphones and the Wheel! So I gave the motion controller a go and wow this is great. It pretty much allows you to be in a swivel chair and use the DS4 with the same feeling of driving without setting up the wheel. I Really recommend your try Motion Steering on the DS4 in VR if you have not done so yet.

(go into settings>controller>top left change the blue picture to the 3rd one (on right) and adjust the sensitivity down to 0 or -1 or -2 for best realistic turning.)

Overall I am very impressed with the cars and the racing. It is a shame there is only 1 car (that is very easy to beat) on each track. It was a bonus that they did not charge for VR like DC or Drally!..I will use this more now (say once a week) as it is a little hassle but great immersion when you do and it is all very smooth on the DS4 that so far I have no VR headache like most other games. (getting old)

p.s on a side note have you tried some 3D blu rays on big screen cinema mode (awesome) or the 3d flying dragon and the scary IT videos in Littlstar PS VR App! Wow the feeling of being there in the video :bowdown:..or the 3d floating chair (free demo) of the Chainsmokers video that was so cool and psychedelic :eek: ....back to reality and :gtplanet:👍

To sort out the 'blackout' issue... If it happens when I look left, I lean to the right a little bit (maybe 2-3 inches) and hold the option button to recalibrate. Visa versa and sit up or slouch to calibrate my height in the car.

You have to keep the movement of your head within the cockpit of the car. Different cars have different cockpit sizes. Recalibrating by holding the OPTIONS button helps. For example, if your head is hitting the roof of the car and causing the blackout, move your head a bit higher from your usual position, and hold OPTIONS to recalibrate. Then sit back down at your usual position. This is the same effect as lowering your seat in the car so your head doesn't hit the roof. Some cars have tighter cockpits than others, so when you wanna look out the window, try not to let your head "hit" the window, just turn it so your helmet doesn't "touch" the window. You just need to control the movement of your head to keep it within the boundaries of the cockpit.

Another thing which really helped me is putting the PS camera somewhere really stable, where it won't move at all. I used to put it on my TV, but my TV moved because my wheel rig is connected to the table where the TV is sitting. I moved the PS camera to the shelf on top of the TV, where it's totally isolated from the movement of my rig, and it hasn't moved since. Big improvement. One suggestion I was from the web was putting the PS camera on a separate tripod, so that it never moves.

Sounds good, have you tried playing GTS ( or any other game) in cinema mode?

Yep It is quite good (like a large 120") projector screen 1080p HD if you play it first before a VR game but as it is a fixed screen it throws you off a bit playing games if you have been in VR etc and nothing to the side view.:sly:

Now it is all set up with my AV receiver I have watched a few blu rays and it is great to lay back with it on (as you do not need the TV or camera if just watching films) etc.

Overall although I haven't used it as much as I thought, every time I do get round to putting it on I am very impressed (like Wow)

Edit: I might have to go and try the go Kart and Honda open wheel next time I am on it!

Sounds like the cables might be the biggest pain setting up when you're just feeling chill. That's what I wanted to ask, can you watch a film with a friend or two from around in the cinema? Maybe they could have an avatar. That would be really awesome.

PSVR cinema is designed just for the one user headset -as cinema mode is in front of you etc (If you have friends round they will have to watch/join in games on the TV only and you with the headset on).

Although I personally wouldn't trust this as you wouldn't know what was being done behind your back etc as you are in your own Virtual World once the hat goes on!

-It really is best viewing alone.:sly:
