Hey all, I'm new here! :)

I'm an old GT player, but new to the online community. I found your site via finalgear.com while reading about GT5P and I already like this place 👍
But the forum is so huge and there is lots of nice stuff to read - but it will take ages to get around it all (over 3.000.000 posts) I been tru many though because I'm very interested.

Would it be an idea to make some kind of guide for newcomers that would tell you something general about this site (can only find the 3 lines you can see on the front page). And then maybe a forum guide that would tell you the 'must-read' threads for different interest for the new comers.

I'm personally interested in the Official GTP races and competitions been reading too many posts and it would never end.

Maybe there is some kind of guide already, but I missed it - or maybe it isn't needed, and just me that doesn't want to miss out on the good stuff on here from before I joined :P

Thanks :)

Hi there and welcome to :gtpflag:

Most sub-forums will have a set of "Stickied" threads at the top of them.
They're recognisable by the bold, blue "Read This!" in front of them and a little icon that looks like a blue push-pin next to the "Replies" column.
Since they're stickied, they remain at the top of the appropriate forum even if other threads get newer replies. (Some are even locked to new posts.)
Many of them contain useful answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) or general pointers on how & what to post in that particular area of the site.

Feel free to elaborate further on what else you would like to see if you're not finding that the sticky threads are enough to give you some guidance.

Hello all, I figured this thread would be as good as any for my first post. I recently started playing GT4 solely for research purposes, but it's pretty fun too. I've got a ton of questions and I know the knowledgeable staff and users here will be able to help me if I need it (and I do, ha)

Thanks!

Best bet would be to search for any questions you have first, since they may have been covered before. Otherwise just take a look around and see what sort of sub-forums there are, and you should be good to go! 👍

It's easy enough to find something with the search function, and you can read the thread titles etc, which of course is obvious. It was just that when I found GTPlanet, there were so many interesting threads to read and many of those had more then 1000 posts - And I just started reading from page 1 in the threads I wanted to read - and there were just too much to read.

So I wanted some guide to show me whats worth reading as many of the threads are more like conversations between the posters (which is natural) but sometimes very irrelevant to the subject.

Since this thread came alive again, I realised what I really wanted was similar to what Eric requested few weeks ago. So I just hope that thread starters would be more obs on their thread-starting-post so one doesn't need to read hundreds of posts to find the interesting bits.

👍
