Gwen Ifill, ground breaking PBS news anchor and journalist, passes away at 61.

Gwen Ifill, groundbreaking journalist and co-host of PBS's Newshour has passed away from complications due to cancer at 61. I greatly enjoyed watching Gwen on PBS over the years as I moved away from commercial television and especially enjoyed her in depth interviews with all kinds of leaders in the entertainment, political and other communities. She will be missed. A story of her life is below and well worth a watch.

I spent many hours over the years watching PBS news, and came to respect Gwen Ifill as the cream of the PBS crop, and never switched channels on her like I did for some. 61 is way too young to die. My father was 61 when he died of cancer, just like Gwen. When you die at 61 , you leave behind too many children and even parents who still need you.
