Would like to wish our Irish members (and everyone else for that matter!) a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Since there is not much room for discussion about St. Patrick's Day itself, I wondered as an alternative, how many people here have either visited or spent any time in Ireland?

I've been to Ireland many times, not least because my ex-girlfriend is Irish (her cousin even plays for the Ireland rugby team :nervous: ), but the last time I went was to watch a game of 'International Rules' - a hybrid between Gaelic football and Australian Rules football...( 'International Rules' seems like a bit of a sterile, non-descriptive name if you ask me - I suggest that a more fitting name for this hybrid sport would be 'Total Mayhem'...) The game was played at Croke Park, a huge stadium in the centre of Dublin - the game was also broadcast live across Ireland on TV. It was a memorable game, not least because there was a little dog running about on the pitch for the first 7 and a half minutes, and not one person paid any attention to the fact! Of course, it was chasing the ball, and as such, it had more near-death experiences in that seven minute period than Boy George at a Ku Klux Klan rally...

I have also spent a New Year in Ireland (Galway), the year that the Euro was introduced. You could still spend your Irish currency, but the vendor was obliged to give you any change in Euro... I had a £50 note and bought three pints of Guinness with it, and got about 55 Euro change... that was great!

Anyway, for those of you who intend to celebrate this evening, have fun and try to keep the Guinness count to single figures :sly:, and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Any other experiences of Ireland or St. Patrick's Day to share?

Happy St. Paddys everyone. I'll be touring Ealing Broadway tonight, getting my free Guinness.

5:10am and I cracked my celebratory beer.

That oughta do for breakfast!

I'll have a few more after work!

It's gonna be a great day.

I saved some bacon fat from yesterday, and the day before so I can grill the cabbage properly. Got a nice brisket, too. We'll also have boiled potatoes and a selection of mustard and mustard sauces. 👍

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Hooray! Its St. Patties day... <-- Should be green beer, but theres no :cheerswithgreenbeer:

And I get to go to work...BOO-URNS!!! :grumpy:

The standard  smiley works fine for this occasion. It looks just like Guinness.

Well, it's St. Patrick's Day, and I just had my first green beer! (In case anyone is wondering, it makes no difference to the taste).

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

If I see another pint of Guinness, I might die... :ill:

I guess it wasn't a good idea to go out for a 'practice' on Thursday night (St. Practice Day? :sly: ) - but I hope a good time was had by all nonetheless...

I just stayed home and put some green food coloring into my Schlitz Strong Beer. I had no desire to go out to a bar for a Friday night St. Patrick's Day. Lots of crazies out that night and a few really serious freeway-closing accidents happened near my home...

I always put blue food coloring in my beer. Three drops per two beers made the best shade of green that green food coloring could never make.

Never mind the food colouring - my mate Tom was sticking a shot of Jameson's in his Guinness :scared:

For when you feel you're not being quite Irish enough...
