Harrison Ford crashes solo.

This after injuring his ankle while filming the new Star Wars.

He must have followed a black cat under a ladder or something.

The actor, who was conscious and breathing when rescue crews reached him, was stabilized and taken to a hospital, where he was in fair to moderate condition, authorities said.

Looks like an old Ryan PT 22. Not a fast plane and plenty of lift which may have saved his life. Hope he's ok:ill:

More about the plane. If you were a cadet in World War II around 1942, odds are good that you trained on a Ryan PT-22. The civil model is designated as Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR. What Ford was piloting was an authentic PT-22 trainee plane. Several noticeable markings distinguishes that plane from the civil model, including:

- The wings was painted yellow. That in military parlance means trainee aircraft.
- There is a white star on a blue background. This signifies that this was a US Army plane that served during the war.

According to Federal records, Ford's plane that crashed was constructed in 1942, the year that he was born, and was certified air worthy through October of this year. The plane was so well kept, that the inspector that is investigating the crash paid it a compliment, saying, "It was restored. It was an award-winning restoral."

I give it to the guy, for 72 he certainly lives life to the full like he's 20 or something.

It looks like a really nice vintage plane, hopefully they can restore it.

I initially saw that the plane was certified airworthy up to October 31st of last year. I guess the report was off by a year.

I first got it via our local TV station Channel 24 News, City TV, live, and they were reporting TMZ saying that he was critical and I was dismayed. That man still has a lot of acting left in him. I hopped on to the internet but there wasn't much news - even though they were showing the plane and the rescue units still on site. So next stop - GTPlanet, to see for any news, but nothing, so I had to fire up a thread myself quick to gather any info.
Fortunately he pulled through. Later on I couldn't help cracking a smile at the thought of what he was going through when his engine cut off.
I kept thinking of Six Days Seven Nights and Quinn Harris taking on pirates.

I give it to the guy, for 72 he certainly lives life to the full like he's 20 or something.

From my point of view - there was some ace piloting involved here. The guy didn't buy the farm - he made a movie. There are other pilots who may have panicked and in fact made a much worse landing.

It looks like a really nice vintage plane, hopefully they can restore it.

From what I last heard the plane 'was in one piece' and may not be so badly damaged as to be scrapped.
Hopefully they can restore it and keep it grounded.
Might be hard to ground Ford.
