Harvey Pekar dies at age 70.

American Splendor was awesome. I have a few issues bagged, boarded, and boxed, in my closet. Might have to take them out and re-read them.

I didn't find this thread until now. Sad to hear of his death.

I loved American Splendor a lot and I like this guy's character/persona. It wasn't made up, he was the real deal.

I enjoyed his Late Night visits, too. Too bad David Letterman has to be such a 'jerkhead.'

If anybody gets a chance, look up Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations episode where he visits Cleveland not long before Harvey's death. Anthony actually spends a lot of time with Mr. Pekar and there's a running American Splendor-type comic going on throughout the show. Very good stuff.
