Has the Racing Kart got slower recently?

I know that we're now able to tune the gearbox, I haven't touched mine, however I'm noticing it really struggling in 5th/6th where it never used to, and just generally seems to be about half a second slower than it did say a week or so ago
Has anyone else noticed this? It feels similar to how they felt on GT6 if you didn't do the engine rebuild - just feels slow :S

For example, the last corner of Tsukuba is usually easy flat in 6th and you continue to build revs/speed out of the corner. Whereas now I'm finding the rpm dropping and I'm having to downshift to 5th. The same thing is happening at Brands out of Paddock on the run up to Druids; usually fine to stay in 6th but the rpm is dropping too much now.

Nothing has changed [as far as I'm aware], the box is still default, but my kart is slower...

Is anyone able to illuminate this irritating problem?

Tune the gearbox? this is new to me. Do you mean in sport mode? There was a kart race C a while back where I did quite well but didnt know i could tune gearbox?

You probably couldn't back then, I believe it's fairly recent, but yeah you can customise the transmission now

Which is convenient since 5th & 6th now feel like driving through treacle

The gearbox was customizeable since I got the game iirc
And in the final turn of Tsukuba my revs always went down a lot

If it is in Sport Mode then the tuning options are normally locked out

I'm like 99% sure it wasn't :S
and to the point you need to shift down to 5th? Usually able to sustain ~100mph through there, now it's struggling to hang on to 90 :S

iirc in regular races with tuning allowed you could change everything from suspensions to gearbox since ever.

I agree that changes on karts gearbox are allowed since launch of GTS. Except for lobbies where gear settings are disabled (when the wrench sign is shown in the lobbies overview) and sport races like daily races and nations cup.
But for sport races it has not always been disabled. I remember a time trial last year on November 13 at BH Indy where it was allowed to customize gear settings for karts. A bit sad it's not allowed anymore since the default gearbox of karts is really bad depending on tracks.

I've checked that every time. For the last 3 sport races, as for daily as for nations cup, none of them gear settings were allowed. Btw, as for lobby racing, this can also be seen in the information page of sport races. If the wrench is visible, no gear customization possible
