Has there been any rumor of C.O.T.A being DLC later on?

I live 30 minutes from Circuit of the Americas, and have been to several events at the track... Grand Am, F1, etc. My wife and I love going to races there, and in fact we were married at the top of the tower. It is a beautiful track, and every driver who gas been given the chance, from F1 drivers down to my buddy who races in an amateur series that had an event there, say how fantastic the experience is, and how difficult the track is.

It is a dream of mine to one day be able to drive the track in real life.

My question is, has anyone read any comment in a PD interview about COTA? I know its not in the game, and I am hopeful that it will be offered as DLC later.

What I fear, is that PD has made a comment about COTA somewhere, explaining why they couldn't do it.

COTA management is a bit snoody, but they did let codemasters have a go at it, so I figured PD might get a shot one day...

anyone have anything more then hope for me to hang my hat on?

I too live only a few hours from the track and would love to see it in Gran Turismo. My only worry is that it takes years for PD to model tracks, this track is so new that I don't think it's been around long enough for PD to have modeled it. It's a fair sized track.

They did Silverstone in 2 years I think, but it was done in pieces since they knew it was meant for GT6, so there wasn't much rush, especially since GT Academy was always there.

I wonder when they started scanning Willow Springs... that'll tell us a lot about how fast they can be.

Also, Mount Panorama, they only started that last year we're pretty sure, so whenever it comes out will give us a good indicator on how fast they can work.

I do think COTA's definitely worthy of inclusion though, awesome facility, great layout for a track, especially for games.

I'm starting to get sick of all these threads. Learn to search the web for christ's sake!

You guys have a good conversation started and then this pops up.

Aren't tilkedome's under an FOM license though?
I'm inclined to say that they are. Not a single one has officially been in a game that wasn't Formula 1, or MotoGP.
Tilke's circuits have appeared in a a few games. The revamped Fuji Speedway has been in the last GT iterations, as you probably know, A1 Ring, Shanghai International Circuit and Bahrain International Circuit have all been featured in Codemaster's Race Driver series. Many of the other, non-"tilkedrome's" in F1 have featured in various games (including GT) too. There's probably more that I'm not aware of but this at least suggests to me that the FOM doesn't have any say in licensing.

A1 Ring and Fuji Speedway weren't designed by Tilke, just reworked.
I'm aware of that but these days they are considered "tilkedrome's", even if he wasn't the original designer. Lately I've just seen people posting in threads suggesting FOM, FIA, etc. are in hold of video game licenses for various cars and race circuits without any real basis for it, so in this case I'm just proving that some of the Tilke designed circuits have been in other video games. The reason you don't see them in most racing games is probably because of the constant criticism racing fans give those circuits for being boring, stop-and-go parking lots (not my opinion, FYI).

They don't retain FOM License though and that is where the problem lies, those aren't FOM commissioned Tilke tracks. FOM does hold the license to Grand Prix racing and must be asked before you can emulate it in a video game, this was shown when CM got the F1 license and has been said by other groups. You didn't prove anything, once again they are reworked, I highly doubt it is based on fans calling them stop and go. Many like Turkey, Korea, Malaysia, America. The tracks I usually hear about that people don't like are Bahrain and India, along with Singapore. I like Singapore to be honest.

It is more likely a license issue than anything.

I know that, it has been fairly publicised but as far as I'm aware, there hasn't been any suggestion that the race circuits come under the same licensing issues (unless you're wanting to race F1 cars on them).

Well, yeah, it was merely for a lack of a better word. :P

That was just bit of a joke, as suggested by the smilie face. ;)

There is definitely licensing agreements PD (or any other video game company) has to deal with first, whether it's the FOM or FIA blocking them, remains to be seen.

I think this article was the one that talked about how Bernie also contributes to these tracks since he is commercial rights holder of them.

I know you were, but I just don't want others to be confused, also I like naming my favorite tracks.

Well new circuits like COTA are partially owned by FOM/Bernie hence why if they don't meet deadlines and other hurdles he pulls the plug.

Alright, fair enough then. I wasn't aware that the FOM partially owned any of the circuits but I was under the impression that the FIA make the deadlines for the calendar, as in the case with the new Sochi circuit, which may need to prove there was a force majeure reason for not making the deadline for the 2014 calendar. I dunno, I might have things wrong and this is turning into a borderline F1 discussion.

Basically what this place becomes once any new info is out. Snowball effect.

I kind of thought it would end up that way since most probably only know it so far through F1, if they didn't see the V8 Supercars race.
