Like the thread title says. I found this thread, which is more related to nightmares...interesting read anyways, but I am more interested in percentages. Share your dream experiences if you like. An interesting movie as it relates to dreams and other consciousness' is "A Waking Life".

Anyways, I would go on to say that Yes, I have died in a dream and actually had an out of body experience and conscious realization of my own death. It was weird. The dream starts off with me be being chased by some thugs. Running on foot I come across a circa 1976 station wagon full of nuns. As most dreams skip some details, we were all of a sudden cruising down this dirt road with three nuns in the back and now my good friend in the passenger seat. We continued to be chased by the thugs, now in cars down this dirt road until we ran out of road. We all got out where I noticed we were actually standing next to a huge canyon, like the Grand Canyon. There was a large tree that was fallen across the expansion. I started to head across the tree with my friend and the nuns to follow. Half way across the canyon, the tree broke. The next moment I was on the ground looking up as my friend was falling and was simply absorbed by the ground, disappearing from my sight. The same followed with the nuns. Hearing a commotion behind be I turn around and see a crowd of people pointing my direction. I start walking towards them asking questions, trying to get someones attention with no success. I then see my friend who was in the car with me at the back of the crowd. I call to him and hears me and comes over. With some short dialog, we both conclude that no one can see or hear us, and it was at that moment we both came to the same conclusion that we were dead and the crowd of people were actually looking at the spot where we had fallen.

You know, in movies and urban legend would have you believe that if you die in your dreams, then you die in real life. That wasn't the case for me. Shortly after my realization in the dream that we had died, I woke. I wasn't scared, but it was almost just a surreal sense of awareness or peace. It was odd.

So, that's my story.... Anyone else?

I don't know if it counts but long story short I got stuck in a human sized thick web that crackled. I couldn't get out and you know what it means when you're sealed up, you're mr. furry eightleg's din din... :scared:

I'm gonna go kill my brain now. :grumpy:

I'm not sure if I've ever died in my dreams. I know I've come close. But I always wake up just before I hit in the dream where you're falling.

I've had a dream I was being chased by T-Rex in a house. As I was running through rooms and doors it was constantly ripping the roof off a really long house, and trying to get me. I eventually reach the door to the outside but, as I pause for a second the T-rex bends down and bites me in half. Well goes to anyways, as soon as the teeth touched me I woke up. So I didn't die.

I've had the out of body dream too, but I wasn't dead, I could see my self sleeping/snoring.

So I guess to answer your question: No, I've never died in a dream.

EDIT: Now I'm going to have weird dreams or something.

I had a very weird and vivid dream last night that my car was stolen (Though, as typical for me, I can't remember any of the details for long)... Vivid enough that I actually had to think for a few minutes and go to the window to check that it was still there...

But I don't recall ever having died in a dream.

I have died in a recurring dream before. While I don't actually depart for the hereafter, it can be assumed that I do acually die in it.

The dream was that I went around to a friend's place at the end of my exams to celebrate and she's the kind of person who only has one way of celebrating: formally. So it ended up that I was going around to he rplace for dinner. Unfortunately, she found that she didn't actually have the roast she was planning on making and so turned to the next-best alternative: me. I was thenprepared, stuffed, trussed and roasted for a few hours. I was on the table being carved when I woke up, so I assume I died.

It was weird; I had it at least two dozen times ...

I died in the "falling" dream. I was falling into a canyon, and just before I hit the ground, the "camera" stopped moving, and I watched my body slam into the ground. I guess that counts as out-of-body. I thought it was pretty cool.

I have blacked out in dreams before, although I don't know if they led to fatalities. The most recent one was me at a store during a robbery where the thief was actually some kind of ninja assassin. He kept jumping all over the place and throwing knives at me as I tried to run out of the building. I remember getting incapacitated and then having knives thrown into me until I blacked out and woke up with my heart racing.

I don't think so - I think the fear and shock of dying is what usually wakes me up just as it happens in the dream.

I've had dreams where I've died in the dream, but come back to life later on in the dream. When I have died in the dream I've also seen family and friends grieving.

As Pako said, when you die in a dream there seems to be an eerie sense of peace.

Several times. Virtually all from third person view right at the time. And virtually all from protecting someone else in the dream.

Such as taking a bullet for someone, pushing them out of the way of a moving car, and so on.

I've more or less concluded my life will probably end in some fashion like that. Which, honestly, I find better than doing nothing. But it is creepy to watch yourself collapse in a dream, lifeless. And watching the people realize what has just happened to you.

I remember being chased by a crazy motorcycle gang with machine guns and rocket launchers before driving a Mitsubishi Fuso off the Hoover Dam while doing it with a hot redhead. I'm pretty sure I would've died in that one, but I can't remember if I woke up because of that or because I got off just in time.

If it counts, I've had many a dream where I've been the subject of an event that, in real-life, would surely cause death (e.g., hitting a tree @ 200kmp/h, fallen from the sky without a parachute and hitting the ground at terminal velocity, and being in the neighbourhood of an atomic bomb), but subsequent to that event I wake up. So I guess I momentarily die in some of my dreams but almost immediately wake up afterwards, never experiencing the 'after-life' event(s), so to speak.

I had a dream in which both me and my dad died trying to save my mother from somthing or other. She was not happy after we died :)

I have always managed to fall off a cliff, a building, get sucked up sky-high by tornadoes... but I have always woken up before I hit the ground.

I've never died in a dream, and I've also heard that it's impossible to see yourself dying in your own dream.

But I see many people here saying that they have died in their dreams :odd:

I've died a couple of times actually, and the freakiest part is the fact that I've actually killed myself in a couple as well.

Why I decided to kill myself in my dreams I'll never know as I'm really not that kind of person. In one I decided to swan dive into the ground off a fence that went across 2 mountains, and the second one that I can remember I took a needle full of poison from a nurse and injected myself with it in front of the people in the room with us. That dream was probably the creepiest as I remember slowly falling to the ground and staring at the people staring at me as my eyes slowly shut as I died. Then I just woke up and everything was fine.

What does it mean if you kill people in your dreams though?! I don't mean to scare anyone, but I find that when I'm dreaming and I don't really like the dream or want to change where its going, I pull a hand gun out of no where and just start off'ing people left and right. The oddest part though is that when I run out of people, I start thinking of other people (that I usually don't like) and making them appear so I can pop one into them too. I'm thinking I need help. :indiff:

Yes. I was shot twice in the head by a German soldier. The first shot gave me a headache, the second, which followed soon after, brought peace.

I always seem to wake up just before I die in a dream like if Im falling I wake up just before I hit the ground etc....
Ive never died in a dream.

Ive never died in a dream.

I've had a few of those as well... The most vivid one was launching a motor cycle off of a sharp, mountainous curve. I remember flying above the trees and as I came down into the tops of the trees I even remember hearing the cracking of tree limbs just before I woke up.

Yeah, I wish it could have lasted longer, but then, again, I realize I'm plummeting to my death in a Mitsubishi Fuso.

I've never had that kind of control in a dream, I'm usually sorta just along for the ride.

I usually have some level of control with my dreams, which is nice to have when my dreams become nightmares (I usually go "yeah, this ain't cool, time to wake up" and I wake up). I find that I can usually control where I go, or atleast change the location of where I am when I don't like where my dream is taking me. Its just the odd couple of times a month that I find myself get bored during dreams and start my hellish rampage on everyone there. I've always just chalked it up to being drug user related or something. :indiff:

IF YOU DIE IN THE GAME YOU DIE FOR REAL

That being said, i can't recall ever dying in a dream. Family and friends yes, though.

Let's see.. I've been shot, my head has been torn off, I've been mutilated by a bear, choked by a python, drowned, eaten by rats and dinosaurs and killed by a giant paper origami. :odd: and that's just the tip of an iceberg. I guess my subconsciousness is working overtime when I sleep.:nervous::scared:

Yes i have. I died first in a crash, went to "heaven", or after-life. And then in the after-life, i died again, and went to a second after-life, which was really cool and all. It was like the most perfect life you could ever have, but then some random dude, who aclled himself "god" came to me and said, that i have a too perfect life here and i have to die.

He took me to some monster-place and this monster chased me and my friend (who btw, died whenever i did and was in teh dream the whole time.) But we got away form the mosnter, and found a staircase. We walked it up and "God" was there, so me and my frined attacked him and beat him to death... Then we just lived our perfect lives at the #2 after-life, with girls, and cars, and booze and all. it was great, till i woke up =(

And yeah, i know, i have VERY Weird dreams, beating up God and all.

I had an out of body expirence where I was "watching" a 24 hours of LeMans race review done by a british narrator. In the review they showed an in-car cam of a fatal wreck between me and a fellow teamate.

I was in a group C like car and was passing a teamate on the hill right before the turn at the end of the mulsanne straight. We were doing 220+mph and my left front tire blow and shot to the left and collected my teamate, spun around, got airborne and off the track into the trees....

It was creepy.

I had a dream where I was in GTA:SC (yes in the game myself), and the first thing I did was the Super Punch code. Next I put in a Pedestrian code, where they go in the same car that you are in. Then I took us up the mountain, and he started talking about how Diesel I was, then I responded negatively.

Next thing you know, I was super punched off a mountain, then had my legs cut off from a helicopter flying below, then I get my back shaved on a planes propeller, and finally I landed on a fast moving car, hitting me all the way to the ocean. Finally, it said "Wasted!"

Then I woke up IRL. :grumpy:

Everytime I die in my dreams, it just fades into this white, blank space and then I wake up.
