After some more experimenting, I came across some interesting things. I am unable to switch between 200 and 900-degree modes or 60% and 100% force feedback at all when the wheel is hooked up to the PS3. When I turn the wheel from lock to lock, the left LED stops flashing and becomes solid, but I still can't navigate any menus or anything. Then I cut the system off and on again, loaded up GT4 without touching the wheel, and surprisingly I was able to navigate the menus with the wheel even though the left LED was still flashing. The game read all the button inputs, but not the gas or brake pedal inputs. Then when I turned the wheel from lock to lock, the LED stopped flashing and became solid, but the game no longer registered any inputs from the wheel.
I guess it's worth noting that a few weeks ago the sensor that allows the wheel to switch between 200 and 900 degree modes became faulty. It goes from 900 to 200 fine, but in order for me to get it back to 900 degree mode I had to open the wheel up and wrap a string around the sliding mechanism that alternates the wheel between 200 and 900-degree modes. The other end of the string runs out to the outside of the wheel, and when I want to go to 900-degree mode I pull the string and the sliding mechanism will slide to 900 degree mode and stay in place. But I honestly don't think that that has anything to do with my problem getting it to work on the PS3, because when I tested the wheel on the PC after having trouble with it on the PS3, it worked fine. After doing a quick google search, it appears that other people have had similar problems getting their DFPs to work with the PS3. Any suggestions?
