Having to restart your router once in a while?

Hi guys. I am having trouble with the GT5 online, I think I have found the problem. This is my router.

d-link 524. Before I got GT5, I have to periodically restart my router once in a while because the internet will drop for both wired and wireless. This happens about once every week/2 weeks. Now after I got GT5, (I am on wireless) I have to restart the router and re-connect the PS3 to the wifi (through network settings) every time I play or I will get disconnected from the server and slow/choppy internet (rooms take long to load up in open lobby). I have learned this through trial and error, if I just disconnect my router, and don't re-add the network, then the internet sometimes won't work for open lobby, and if I just re add the network, it sometimes won't work too. The funny thing is, I can still sign into PSN and see all my friends and connect to Playstation Store, although it is slow and choppy. However, my laptop works fine and its on wireless. After restarting it, then re-adding the network, it is back to normal speed. My question is, why do I have to restart it? Is it because my router is old, or is it because my router is 802.11g? I know wired will fix this, but unfortunately I can't get it wired because it's too far. So basically my question is, if I buy a new router with 802.11n will this problem be fixed? (meaning no more restarts and re-add network)
