yeah that is the car i have except when i bught it it had 200 bhp and weighed 700kg, now it has 299bhp and weighs 700kg :) ill try the set up thnx :)

Try my tune for the elise 96....

I tried it man, and I can't make it through even 3 turns on Nordschleife online, and I am a good driver. Online physics are so jacked up it makes no sense at all. I will happily send you this car set up with your tune and you can see for yourself what happens.

Glad you sussed it mate, I suggested you try the 96 tune as it was the closest I have to the motor sport elise, I really want one but can never find it! :(

This is one of those cars that drives better not slammed to the ground, especially on lower grade tires. Set the ride height backup to default or even +10F/5R so the front end is a little higher than the back to shift some of the cars weight toward the rear. Don't make the springs too soft or too hard, usually about twice the spring rate of the fully adjustable default for starters then tweak to taste. If you still have handling problems try a rear wing with 15-20 downforce. I'm not a fan of camber or toe either, I usually zero those out until I get spring rate, dampers, and anti-roll sorted for feel, then gradually increase camber (depending on tire grade; more for race tires, less to none for sport hards, etc) and usually leave toe zeroed out.

I'm still curious of all the "anti-toe" sentiments after noticing that both of the Ferrari F1 cars come with default toe of -0.50/+0.50. I also have a friend that is extremely competitive online and who takes 1st place the majority of the time, and some of the toe settings he runs are just absurd, but it works for him. He is VERY fast regardless of what I or anyone else has to say about how he tunes his cars.

Do your own test with him then, time him with default toe then set it to zero and time again. F1 is not analogous to most other cars though, lots of power and downforce, little weight. Not to say that toe is not valid tune option, it is, but most people focus on it too much before getting the suspension sorted out which should be the priority for reliable handling.

I'm not trying to downtalk anyone, I'm literally curious about that. I'd like to know what about those cars exists so that they come with those defaults. When I first went to tune the Ferrari F1's I was a bit surprised to see those toe values obviously. But that also changed my philosophy of tuning for certain problematic cars such as this Elise and the Peugeot 908. I'd really like to hear people with more tuning experience chime in as to why they think those cars are set up that way at default.

Toe is a fine tune enhancement to put it nicely, on lower power and heavier cars, focus on tire to surface grip yields the most noticeable gains. I prefer to tune with Sport Medium or less tire, I think most people have trouble with some of the fundamentals of tuning because they jump straight to Race Soft and to use the analogy, "much was lost in translation," because it's hard to distinguish between the minor twitches that are more evident on lower rated tires. While your slammed out tune with negative max ride height may suffice on Race Softs you'll find it's garbage on Sport Mediums, bump the ride height back up to normal so the cars weight shifts on the tires and provides more grip in corners and you will find it handles just as well as it did on the race tires (and so on).

Actually, only partially slammed. I ended up going with a height of -40/+20. Anyway, I ditched the earlier setup and tuned the car online at Nordschleife. I ran an eventful 7:30 lap. The car is so light with the weight reductions that any change in elevation can send you off the track in a hurry. I had to really watch it. If I see this car again in the UCD I'll buy another one but forego the weight reductions so that it's actually manageable.

And budious, I would really like to try out any tunes you have for this car, since it was all I could do to get up to reasonable standards. Could you PM me a tune to try?

I can post something later when I get a chance to grab my setups. Think I have dupes of most of the Lotus models, just the other night I was running a 170hp, 750kg Elise Type 72 '01 with Sport Mediums around Deep Forest in 1:25" laps for the European Championship (A-spec Expert series) staying out in front of pack and winning.

Great thanks man. Any kind of input I can get and compare my experiences to will help me to figure out this system a bit better I'm sure. Appreciated.

Would love a duped Motor Sport Elise......:sly: lol
Cant get one anywhere! :banghead:

Actually looking at my garage I didn't have that particular one, but I am a used car dealer addict so when I see it I'll grab it.

So far (standard models):
Espirit Turbo HC '87
Espirit V8 GT '98
Espirit V8 SE '98
Elise Sport 190 '98
Espirit Sport 350 '00
Elise '00
Elise Type 72 '01
Elise 111S '03

As for a Lotus Elise tune, I started for scratch and threw together a tune that ran 151hp on 756kg Elise Type 72 '01 with Comfort Soft tires intended, but also tested on Sport Mediums with 201hp. It can probably be adapted to Elise models in general since the body dimensions are all pretty similar, you may need to adjust spring rate to accommodate weight differences.

Lotus Elise Type 72 '01
------
201HP (*151HP)
756KG

+ Engine Tune 3 (*151HP setup)

+ Sport Exhaust Manifold
+ Catalytic Converter
+ Titanium Racing Exhaust

+ Twin Plate Cluth
+ Semi-Race Flywheel

+ Fully Customizable Suspension
@ Ride Height: +15 F / + 15 R
@ Spring Rate: 5.8 F / 8.0 R
@ Damper Ext: 3 F / 3 R
@ Damper Com: 3 F / 2 R
@ Anti-Roll: 4 F / 3 R
@ Camber: 0.0 F / 0.0 R
@ Toe: 0.00 F / 0.00 R

Brake Controller @ 5 F / 5 R

TCS: off
ASM: off
ABS: 1

Notes: This is beta quality tune and was setup running 151HP with Comfort Soft tires on Deep Forest Raceway. Dampers may be a bit to soft for all courses but for now they are set on the soft side for a nice plush ride. Camber is course and tire dependent, fiddle with it as you may. If you have problems with straight-line control or managing your throttle, restore the +0.20 rear toe; also try custom limited slip differential with Initial 7 (up to 10), Accel 30 (up to 40-45), Brake 12 (up to 15-20). For the basic tune I stuck with standard transmission (165mph) and standard differential (7/30/15 stock). Also, no rear aero wing on my tune; but if you feel so inclined, try one.

Deep Forest Raceway w/ Comfort Soft (201hp) - 1:30 lap
Deep Forest Raceway w/ Sport Medium (201hp) - 1:25 lap
Nurburgring Nordschleife w/ Sport Medium (201hp) - 8:09 lap

Thanks for the tune budious, but unfortunately not all Elise cars are created equal. I have both of the race modded versions, the motor sport version, and a standard 111R version. All of them behave differently.

Your welcome but try it anyways, you might be surprised, and if you need to adapt it changes will probably be minimal. Anyways I was just trying to provide a template more than a ready to go 300hp tune for your particular car (hopefully I can find one myself soon).

Ah I see now motorsport is more of a proper race car, well anyways with downforce and such it should handle that much better :)

BTW, how much does it cost from used car lot?

Can't remember the cost exactly. I had over 18,000,000 credits at the time so I didn't give it much thought. But the thing is, yes it's called a motor sport car, but it doesn't have any front aero adjustment, and rear aero only hits 15 at max unless you buy a wing, which will still only hit 20 for downforce. I kept the original wing because it looks different than the purchased ones, and better imo. I'll try your tune and let you know how it goes.

SS, I know its cheeky to ask but is there any chance you could dupe me a motor sport elise? cant find one in the ucd or market here for love or money!
Can send a few paints in exchange?
Itching to get my hands on one and tune it, my elise 111R tune on here was received very well....lol
