HDMI Splitter Help

At the moment I have my PS3 and Sky HD Box connected to my TV via it's two HDMI ports.

But when I get my PS4 I'm still going to want to play my PS3 from time to time so I was wondering if anyone has something similar set up and if they use a HDMI splitter? I'm looking at getting one but I'm not sure which is best value for money. I've seen two on amazon but I'm not so sure based on the reviews.

Any help would be really appreciated.

From the time it takes to switch modes you can just swap which console it goes to.

That's what I do for my 360/PC.

I'd say the Duronic one is probably decent enough, but as it's passive (i.e. powered by the HDMI's 5V rather than an external supply) it's possible you'll run into trouble. This one is optionally powered (you need to find and buy the power adaptor, though, as it doesn't seem to include one) and comes with a remote control which is probably credit card-sized and therefore will get lost as soon as you take it out of the box.

In other words, look for an 'active' or 'powered' HDMI switch. Not a splitter, though, don't buy a splitter. They are different.

I hope it's okay when I hijack this thread, but I have some questions regarding HDMI switches too.
I want to connect my PC, PS3 and one day PS4 to one and connect them this way to my TV and monitor.
This way I could use my PC and one of the consoles at the same time, or my TV and one of my consoles at the same time.
But I'm planning to downsample the resolution on my PC from 1440p to 1080p for example.
Can I still do this with a switch like this: http://www.amazon.de/Ligawo-®-HDMI-Matrix-4x2/dp/B0038KJ57I/ref=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&qid=1384722996&sr=8-36&keywords=hdmi switch (I know it's in German, but it shouldn't matter too much to understand what I mean)
It say "up to 1080p or 1920x1200" so I'm a bit confused.

EDIT: What's also neat on this switch, is the fact that it has a seperate analog audio-out, so I wouldn't have to buy an optical-to-cinch adapter for the PS4.

EDIT²: @neema_t any idea?

@G.T.Ace I think, but am absolutely not sure, that if you downsample the resolution the HDMI output from your PC will still be 1080p... Surely? I've never done it before but I can't imagine your PC would actually output 1440p, otherwise you'd have problems with your monitor like when I tried to play my PS3 in 1080p on a 1050p (I just made that up, I mean 1680x1050) monitor which came up with an 'unsupported mode' error. I'm not the best person to ask really as I've never tried downsampling, but if I were in your position I'd buy it. It's hard to actually recommend it though when it's not my money!

Duh, you're right, the GPU is already downscaling the signal.
Thanks, feeling dumb now, but thanks.

EDIT: Guess I was just looking for a flaw, because the whole thing is too cool to be true. :D
