- Getting There
Hello everyone,
just wanted to introduce myself here at GTP, in my humble opinion the best forum dedicated to GT on the whole WWW.
I'm just gonna answer all the questions from the sticky now![Smile :) :)](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/smile.svg?v=3)
Q: How did you find GTPlanet?
A: I found GTPlanet around the time the PS3 was released, while looking for some general information about one of my favorite videogame series, and have been a lurker and silent reader ever since. So it's already been 4 years since I am here, yet nobody knows me.![LOL  ](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/lol.svg?v=3)
Q: Where are you from?
A: "Straight outta da center of Germany", I'd say. Precisely northern Thuringia.
Q: When did you start playing the Gran Turismo games?
A: (beware of tl;dr)
I got started on Gran Turismo way back in my Elementary School days, to be honest, and it was a bud who introduced me to it. We were hanging out at his place and he had a PS1, and since at that time we were major NFS fans but thought we needed some variety, we decided to try out GT1. His brother bought the game for him and we instantly fell in love, countless hours in Splitscreen were spent.
At that time, GT2 was already out, so of course we had to try it too. Somehow we managed to spend even more time on it, this time focusing on the GT mode. Since I had no PS1 at home, my bud used to invite me to his place and show me his progress in GT mode. Boy I remember the day he got the Escudo...![LOL  ](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/lol.svg?v=3)
Unfortunately, we completely missed out on GT3 and ignored it until a few years ago, when GT4 was already out. Having played GT4 first (I bought it as a birthday present for my bud) we were not so impressed by GT3.
But GT4 brought the old GT2 feelings back, tuning and racing the wide variety of cars in the game was endless fun. One day we spent one whole afternoon tuning the Minolta, and with nitrous we made it go 510km/h. 👍 Excessive fiddling on the gear ratios was needed, but nevertheless it was great fun.
The next GT I played was GTPSP, and after having waited for a GT4 port that was originally announced when the PSP was launched, I was disappointed to see that GTPSP was essentially GT4's Arcade Mode with License Tests and cars you need to buy, plus some new vehicles and tracks. 👎 Suffice it to say that I did not play it a lot.
Timeskip to 2010: When the news on GT5 were starting to amass and November 24 was set as the release date I was determined to get a PS3, and of course that happened, and I must say GT5 is a great game. In my opinion, beside all the major and minor annoyances it is truly worthy of bearing the GT name. The addition of an online mode, the distinctive heaploads of cars and the great new driving physics make this the best racing game I have ever played, hands down.![Smile :) :)](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/smile.svg?v=3)
Q: Do you play with a steering wheel?
A: No, I don't. I'm a pad player all the way because I have never had enough space to comfortably arrange a complete wheel set-up. I will try it again some time in the future though, because of the fact that I have played GT5 with a wheel once and my lap times improved greatly.
Q: What are you most looking forward to doing in the community, now that you're a part of this site?
A: Express my love for cars and GT, maybe create a Photomode thread and of course participate in online races. Although I am not a really good driver I will try my best to drive as clean, fair and competitive as possible.![Smile :) :)](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/smile.svg?v=3)
Wow, that was certainly a lot. I hope you didn't fall asleep while reading![LOL  ](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/lol.svg?v=3)
