Hello everbody! Just found out about GT planet today. Lots of info and a nice community so I immediately signed up. I played the first GT on PS1 before and loved it. Been moving around Asia then eventually to US ever since so I never had the chance to get back on it till last christmas. I got a nice logitech wheel and GT5 as a present from my gf. Began travelling for quite sometime again so I never got to buckle down and play but now hopefully i can sit back and start driving. I enjoy most racing, rpg and arcade games. I would really enjoy learning with you guys here.

Some more info: I currently reside in Philadelphia but I go back to the Philippines every now and then since my family is there. I also enjoy music (guitarist in a band). Never raced before but my brother is a total gearhead back home in the Phils and we both love to drive and tinker with cars. I do some electrical/robotic work and design so feel free to ask and I'll see what I could to help.

Regards,
Rye

Hey welcome! You sir, are in the perfect city for some great football this year! I'm not really an Eagles fan but they look tough as always and Vick is a bad man. :) I'm also a guitarist and a elec/robotic guy. What kind of work/design do you do?

Awesome! What work do you do? Anyways, yeah Vick's a great comeback story here in Philly. Hopefully we get something going this year as it seems we're going to have a good one. But we also have the Phillies and they're doing super as well! I was in microcontrollers and cb design before, then moved on to plc automation (worked for a japanese), now I'm into Dcs/Scada plant automation.

Plc's you say? 👍👍 That's exactly what I'm into, unfortunately I am not currently working in the field due to the fine economy here and whatnot, but yeah. I'm in the industrial automation and controls technician field too. Mostly Koyo plc's but some AB programming and troubleshooting, variable frequency drives, and programming/building touch screen graphical interfaces for the plc's. I prefer the less expensive koyo's to even the higher end AB Slc's personally, I just find the ladder logic easier to write and debug than the extensive commands and structure of the AB language and I am unaware of any process or command AB can do that can not also be done on Koyo, though many seem to think this. Really though, I have training in pretty much everything involved from the point of the main electrical service and conduit runs to electronics repair and machining emergency repair parts. I'd like to move in to CNC repair if possible one day but it looks like I need about 10 more years experience to even get an interview in that field.

I haven't used Koyo's before but I heard good things bout them. I use AB from time to time and I could say I also prefer Omron's and Mitsu's better but I've seen with people who prefer AB. I rarely encounter companies here in US that use Japanese brands unlike in Asia.

Yeah, this economy is pretty tough. Hopefully we could bounce back. I've seen a couple of layoffs from clients as well as my own company. CNC's? I haven't encountered much of those here in the east coast, I remember working with Brother CNC before (integration) and it was a lot of fun!

It's good to have another plc nerd on here sir! Most people just look at me sideways when I try to explain to them what I do, so I just give generic answers now. Maybe some kind of plc project like a xmas light show set to music or some other idea will emerge in the future on here somehow and we'll get to compare notes. Welcome to the GTP boards. :)

Hahaha! Happens to me as well! Projects? Sounds fun! Let me know when one comes along and I see what I could do. By the way, what part of the country are you at?

Yeah man, I'll keep you in mind for sure, there aren't many of us. I wonder how many others on this site would even know what we are talking about? But anyway, yeah I'm in northern Kentucky. If you know the Mazak name, their HQ/offices are maybe 5 minutes away from my house and I've actually taken a few classes where they provided the space in their HQ for us to meet. That's largely where I developed my interest in CNC.

Wow, cool! I'm sure there would be some here who knows about automation and stuff :) Let me know when something comes up then.

Hello, and welcome to GTP :). I wish you a pleasant browsing experience and hope you enjoy the forums. 👍

Regards.

Unofficial welcome party. (Shem)
