As the title says after all these years using my controller I've decided to upgrade & buy a cockpit.
I've only heard of Playseat so I was wondering if there are anyother decent seats out there for the same price/less?
& I've heard good things about Fanatec 911 GT3RS (or something like that) but I cant seem to find one so its either a G25/27 that I'll get.

At the moment I'm considering a Playseat Evo (£310~ +£29 for the gearshift holder) + Logitech G25 (£165~) as for sound I am probably getting a Logitech X-530 (£40~)

What other choices do I have cockpit wise for a total of about £550~? Any suggestions or is that a pretty decent set up?

Thanks in advance xD

Check out the web episodes of insidesimracing.tv to find reviews on all of that. Not many people here own 40 different cockpits so we are all going to tell you what we own is good ;-). Playseat evo is really a good affordable one, cheaper involves wheel stands and cheaper things if you dont want to build your own. There are so many nice threads on people that have built their own...take a look at that 1st. It would fit you like a glove and be a lot cheaper...and you would appreciate it more.

I'll go check out that site. Thanks.
As for stands & stuff I really dont want the stands as most of them seem to have the big tube going up the middle for the wheel so I'd probably hit my legs on that lots.
(EDIT: Just noticed the Playseat Evo has the same thing :ouch:)
As for builiding one, I dont trust myself doing that! haha I fail at DIY stuff.

Where are you planning on getting the G25 from? Just curious....

Ebay more than likely.

Hello - I considered creating a new topic but from what I see we have a familiar "problem".

If there is any faq that would answer all my question please just post the link so that you wouldn't waste your time. (I looked around topics in this forum but couldn't find that specific info...)

I am about to buy my first wheel and first wheel stand / playseat.

My question is which playseat would you recommend (by you I mean everybody who is reading this message ;) ) which is the best and by the best I mean:

stable;
sit as close to real racing car sit as possible;
stable;
regulation of pedals stand;
stable;
regulation of gear lever position (if possible if not I'll do it on my own)
real car pedals position (I mean upside down to what G25/27 offer) (If possible)

would you recommend this company:
http://playseat.com/shop/

which of above seats is the best ? takuma sato edition ? evolution ? agp1 ?...

I am afraid this product is better:
http://mt.visionracer.com/_product_56921/VisionRacer_-_VR3_Rig_and_Gear_Shifter_Mount

but I do not have that much money.

Second question:

is there any reliable company doing changes in pedals sensitivity ? or people need to do that on their own ?
Hmm I see that rentec has some springs for their pedals - anyone owns that set? - club sport pedals + 30% stronger springs ? does it feel more like rl car ?

Last question:

I understand there wouldn't be a problem fitting this:

http://www.fanatec.de/html/index.php?id=293&lang=en

with G27 and one of the playseats?
would it take more than one USB port in my PS3 ?(this + G27) probably it would... but how are pedals connected to PS3 ? also via second USB port ?

Any other company / products you would recommend ?

1. I think that none of the "basic" stands support reversed pedals. (upside down) And the seat usually is not adjustable in height so you'll need to be happy with the height they have put it in.

2. Stability is a matter that different people sees differently firstly because the driving styles can be very different, and also some just don't mind little movement on the wheel. I wouldn't recommend Playset for it's stability, but that is just my view. Not tried Obutto or Visionracer.. Visionracer lacks the adjustability, but if that's not an issue it surely looks good and stable. Little pricey maybe?

3. The shifter usually has only one place to mount it, if I'm not mistaken.

What is your budget? Are you afraid of little DIY? As speaking of other "companies" I know one rig that supports:

Seat stand
- adjustable height
- adjustable angle
- any proper racing seat will fit (runners needed)

Wheel Support
- adjustable height
- adjustable angle

Pedal support
- adjustable angle
- adjustable height
- adjustable distance from the seat
- can be used to support inverted pedals (separate pedals)

Shifter holder
- fits both sides
- adjustable height
- adjustable distance from the seat

Screen support
- Adjustable height
:P

Too bad it's not out just yet! :nervous: Are you in a hurry with it?

Hey Timppaq - thank you for taking your time and replaying :)

So you are saying play seat has low stability ?
I would like something that wouldn't move at all.
From the videos of inside sim racing I see that wheelstands by rentec and wspro are moving during playing :/

What is DIY ?
My budget depends on time of built - right now a wheel + stand but in 2 months wheel + play seat, when does that thing you wrote about come out ?

And the question about pedals - are they connected separately from a wheel or are they connected to the wheel and than to PS3 via 1 usb port ? would rentec pedals work with G27 if the latter option (1 usb) is used ?

DIY is - Do It Yourself :) And for me Playseat has a low stability. That is not to say that it would feel that way for most of the users. But it is really just my opinion.

Do It Yourself - ok, understood.

I think that could be a good solution too - first wheel stand pro - very cheap in my country and it would be in my house in no time (I have no good table to mount G27 to :/) and later DIY... - DIY has among others 1 big plus in my opinion - I could fit it with whatever car seat I would like ;)
The best would be - to be able to test wsp before buying it ...although people seam to be satisfied with it...

Timppaq I am sure you won a wheel - how are pedals connected ? and are the pedals in G27/25 "too light" "to sensitive"? I am asking because these club sport pedals by fanatec look good and they have this 30% stronger springs pack... + I have already seen some instructions on inverting pedals

I have never used the clubsport pedals. So far I have bbe happy with the G25 pedals, they're not perfect but good enough at this point for me. I might get something more robust in future though. G25 pedals should be easy to invert as you can see in many cockpits here too.
