I just re-bought GT2 a few hours ago and loaded it up on my PS2, everything working fine, i go to save my game and it says no memory card detected (or sumthing like that) i tried all 3 of my cards. Do i need to use a PSX memory card? I thought id ask around here.

if your using a ps2 card, maybe. Im not quite sure but i know how to fix it. Blow in the card, i know it seems old fashioned but do it. Then, slit the corner, just the corner of the card into the slot, so you have enough room to blow in the slot. Blow in the slot 5 or 6 times, and try again.

Yeah, you need an original PS memory card. GT1 and 2 can't be saved to a PS2 card.

It also helps if you have a card made by Sony, if it's not made by Sony, it might or might not be useful. Personally, half of mine are used cards from EB or GameStop not made by Sony. they work fine, but I've had a couple of them start to go bad. To fix this, I'll put the card in slot 1 (sometimes slot 2 doesn't work for some reason), and then I'll hold it upwards with my finger. After this, the PS2 will be able to detect the card and I'll be able to save, still holding the card up.

Also, make sure your card is a 1x type (I forget the exact name). Gran Turismo doesn't like battery-powered multisave cards.

Im using a Sony PS2 Memory Card, i dont like using other brands when you can get something that you know is going to work. ill go and get a PSX memory card and see waht happens. Thanks! :) 👍

i have one sony card and one non sony card, and the sony one is definately better i think. its still going strong, whereas the other one i have to wiggle around to get it to load/save right, and sometimes it just will say save file corrupt out of nowhere and i have to restart

I've seen that happen a couple times with Nyko PS1 cards. I think the first time I nearly had a heart attack! 6 months of hardcore game saves down the tubes! I've got a Nyko card that I've saved a lot of replays on and for some reason whenever I'd try and save a new replay on it, it would say Checking Slot 1 or something...and it would just freeze for a minute or 2, but then it would finally let me save.

i just found out another thing last night, with my non sony card i started up the system, and then it loaded the game ok, but the controller wasnt working at all. the light for the analog was on but no buttons were working, so i took out the card and the controller was back to normal.. kinda weird

The best memory cards to go with are the official Sony ones, especially on the PS2. I have two Performance 2x memory cards that work (sometimes I don't see them on the browser menu but manages to save and load), and 2 Nuby memory cards (came in a 2 pack) which one of them (clear case) corrupts all the time. I might have to look into getting one or two more Sony ones.

Im using a Sony PS2 Memory Card
That's the problem. PS1 games can't be saved to a PS2 card, but they can be stored on the PS2 card (but it needs to be on the PS1 card if you want to play).

(quite confusing, I know  )
