Dunno if this is the right place to ask, but here goes.

First thing's first, my ride is a 1988 Ford F150 XLT Lariat (the 4.9 300 I6 model).

While putting in a temporary battery (from a Dodge Neon, just to get it started up) I noticed a "reservoir," I guess, to the right and beneath the battery.

Pictures for reference:

I've looked everywhere and can't find anything about this little piece. Any ideas? I can provide more pictures if requested.

Charcoal canister, part of your EVAP and emissions system. It's located under my battery in my Integra as well.

Gotta love those soup can Vacuum reservoirs. I am surprised a truck of that vintage still has all of it's emission controls intact.
