HELP! GT4 won't read!

Not sure if this was the best place to put it....

It all happened today. I was playing. I finished a race. when loading the replay, the loader circle turned red. I waited for 30 mins. Nothing. I took out the disc. It was all scratched. I assure you it didn't have any scratches when I put it in. I put the disc back in, and tried to do another race. The loading circle turned red while loading the race. I then cleaned it with a lint-free cloth. Now it will play the race with the music skipping, and when it tries to load the replay, the loading circle turned red. I let it sit for a hour. Nothing...

1. Is it possible that a PS2 scratched my disc trying to read it?
2. Any one know of a fix for the red Loading circle?

Is it an old ps2 (fat one) or new (slim one)

Bought it right before the new slim came out.

Im not sure if this will help but heres a link to fix some old PS2 DREs
but since urs is a recent (fat) one it might not work. Following these procedures will void ur waranty so be careful. Iv'e used these instructions to fix my friends old PS2 click
Otherwise u might need a new disk

if u see the red circle...shake ur PS a little from the right side...it works for me everytime

Do a search for "disk read error". You'll find what you're looking for. But, in fact, you don't even need to do that, since there is a link to an article on this topic in the FAQ threads stickied at the top of the GT4 index.

That's why we put them there.
