Hi everyone,

I'm trying to go gold on Moby Dick #2 (Tsukuba) but it's so hard. You need to do 30 laps in rain and maintain fuel consumption. I managed to place 5th and get silver with the M3 '07 and 1 fuel stop.

Any car recommendation on how to get gold?

Cheers,
Alex

I used the R32 with max weight reduction and about 400hp total (power restricted slightly to fit)

My advice is to go with absolute minimum fuel map and drive as smoothly as possible, coasting wherever possible, and driving carefully on the wet laps, because - believe it or not - you’re not gonna pit at all.

The AI will devour you for most of the race and that’s totally normal. The crux of the strategy is that the AI won’t be able to make ~1m on you, because that’s the time you save by not pitting.

Thanks! I will give it a try. Would you mind sharing your R32 Tune? My R32 is understeering so badly.

I'm starting Mission Races tomorrow.. and wow, I haven't even heard of this event till this thread, but this sounds like really sound advice.

I'll definitely keep it in mind when I get to this mission.

I just watched a Super GT stream and he did this mission. He used the lancer evo with the medium tires, made two stops (the last one mostly to change tires) and in the end the finished way ahead of the 2nd place. Using a 4wd car seems the way to go because of the rain.

I managed to nab the gold!

Car: GR Yaris
Tyres: Sport Soft
Suspension: Fully Customized - Stock settings
Power Restrictor: 96%
Brakes: Carbon
Clutch/Flywheel: Racing
Brake Controller fitted
Everything else is stock.

Strategy:

Phrase 1: Flat out
Fuel map 1, BB +5

Make up as many places as you can while the track is dry.

Phrase 2: Conserve
Fuel map 6, BB 0

When the rain falls, adjust fuel map and BB as above and shortshift aggressively (keep the rpm bar as empty as you can) to save fuel.

Phrase 3: Pit
Fuel map 1, BB +5

Pit at the end of lap 18 after the rain ends. Take fresh Softs and load up ~20 laps of fuel for the final assault. The Mexican (Z. Saenz) that serves as your rival should pit in on the same lap as you, but should stay behind you as you leave the pits.
Use the fuel and fresh tyres to lap as many cars as possible. The more cars you lap, the more cars the Mexican has to deal with. He should have to pit again towards the end, but there’s no harm in overkill, right? You might need to fuel save towards the end.

Dont know if you got gold yet. But I'll just leave this here just in case. Maybe some else might have use of it.

I used the Ford Focus Gr.B Rally car. It's the one you get from the menu books.

I left out the turbocharger and put some sports hard tyres on it. Didnt had to change the ECU. No ballast needed. At the transmission tab I slightly increased my top speed to 320 and it made the car 589.51pp.

For the race it was easy, put your power limit to 6 and your good to go for roughly 25-27 laps with 1 tank. The car is fast and stable even in the rain. I was 1 in lap 12 and went in the pits for the first at lap 22 when I was 1 minute ahead of 2nd. Came out first with a good lead as well. I could have stayed out for longer if I had left my power limiter on 6 but I put it to 3 on lap 14-15 when it was dry again to really extend a gap to nr 2. And I kinda forgot about it until the message popped up saying I had to refuel.

I've tried numerous cars but this rally car was the easiest to drive and I was constant gaining time on every other car on the track. I actually drove this mission twice to see if it was possible to do on 1 tank without a pit stop and I believe it might even be possible. But then you really need good fuel saving techniques

EVO begin with lowest power setting, you’ll manage to do 18 laps, then refill with fresh tires and power setting 4 you’ll be first and have a 30s lead at the end. Keep a good scarabee during the rain!

I liked that mission, sad it's only a one-timer...

I used Impreza STi Ver.VI (as I wanted to keep my 22b stock). Three stages of weight reduction, sport suspension, racing brakes, semi-racing clutch and flywheel set. I left engine with stock 280 HP because I felt that this race is more about traction and fuel-saving than power output.

I used only one type of tires (sport hards or mediums, can't remember exactly) and 1-pit strategy after about 15 mins of race.

Important (and quite fun!) thing was playing with c.diff torque distribution during the race. For dry start and first laps I used 35:65 and when rain was increasing I added more torque to front axle going for 50:50 at the most wet part of the race. On last part, when track was drying, I was smoothly transfering the torque back to rear once again.

I won quite easily having still in my car decent amount of gap to 600 PP limit.
