Well today I tried signing in to my windows live(hotmail)account to find the following message
"It looks like someone else might be using your account
To help you—and only you—get back into ********************, we need to verify that it's yours."

If I click "next" I am taken to another screen asking "How do you want to receive your security code?"

It lists another hotmail address and shows the frist 2 letters and then ******** @hotmail.com. I do not have a hotmail address like that and it

copied from a user with same issue

anyway I've filled a form to verify my email but they asked stuff like to whom did I send my last email to (which I don't know) and bunch of other stuff,I've filled what I know only to recieve this reply
Unfortunately, our automated system has determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership. Microsoft takes the security and privacy of our customers very seriously, and our commitment to protecting your personal information requires that we take the utmost care in ensuring that you are the account owner.

We have taken the additional step of blocking your account *********@live.com until we can verify you as the account owner. This will prevent any further use of the account, and protect you from any possible malicious activity.

This account is very important and it is my sign in mail I use to most sites (including here and PSN).

Any ideas ?

I think when I made my hotmail account it made me choose a back up email in case something like this happened. Maybe the other hotmail account that it mentions in your first quote is the backup one? Are you sure you didn't enter a relatives email and that could be what it is referring to?

Also I'd imagine you have to fill in the entire form. Maybe you could ask all your friends/relatives when they last recieved an email from you and work it out that way?

I don't know if this could be caused by a virus on your computer but you may want to run a scan just in case.

Ask Hotmail to trace the last password/email verification change IP address and state that the IP is not yours. I think Hotmail would understand the situation when they do more investigation and fix it for you.

My brother FB and Yahoo mail account have been hacked too, but I managed to gain it back and now I set up security question, secondary email, mobile verification and very strong password.

It didn't matter they sent the form to my gmail
Account, the thing is I rarely use my email to send anything so I can't remember to whom I sent my last emails.

How do I do that?

I suggest you to read this if you haven't :

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/outlook/hacked-account

Then try this feedback form :

http://support.microsoft.com/common/survey.aspx?scid=sw;en-us;2176&productkey=wlmail&altStyle=MFE&renderOption=OverrideDefault&showpage=1&fr=1&nofrbrand=1

Or this account recovery :

I hope you can get them to reset your email password.

My father-in-law had a similar problem. A friend helped him setup his hotmail, probably 10 years ago. So long ago his email address is Jdoe@hotmail.com (it's not john doe, but it's his first initial of his first name, and his last name with no numbers. and it's a common name, so that's how long ago it's been.)

He couldn't remember the security questions asked, and at that time he didn't have the option to setup a alternate email.

So me (I work IT) start emailing the support with hotmail to prove his identity.

I provided mac address of my router and the only computer he checks his email on. Hotmail didn't help.

I provided some emails my wife had forwarded him, just looking at my wife's email. Hotmail didn't help.

Finally after asking him to try and remember what emails he had been receiving he remembered a few of the latest ones. He is a member of an online dating site, and said he gets emails from them frequently. I told them that, and they finally unlocked the account for him.

This probably happened a year or so ago, and since then my email is his alternate and his password is strong.

I would try and get back with them on emails you have been getting from them. Seems to be the only thing that works.

If that email is for your PSN, then I would do a "Forgotten password" request from PSN, or another service you use that email for, and then let hotmail know that you should be getting a password reset request from psn or wherever.

That is really helpful 👍 can you provide me with the direct link to contact them please?
