I recently won the Spoon Civi. It's a beautiful little car . . . if you don't accelerate too early. Accelerate too early and it will plant itself into a wall.

I'm looking for settings that will help remedy this. Anyone?

Thanks,
SS.

Well, though I own the Spoon Civic, I can't say I've driven it. Have you modded it up? What I can give you are settings for the 250-hp Integra R that I really like. They should translate pretty well, at least for a start. If that's not enough I can also give you the settings for the 480-hp version.

Looking at my notes it's actually pretty simple. This was good for 1':26.xxx" at Deep Forest II with 247 hp.

Spring: 9.0/12.0
Ride Ht: 95/95
Bound: 5/10
Rebound: 5/10
Camber: 3.5/0.0
Toe: +0.5/-1.0
Stab: 3/6
Brakes: 12/18

Autoset: 23
Final: 4.550
LSD: 10/30/20
ASM: 0
TCS: 1

Hope this helps.

Yeah my Spoon is modded all the way. I'll give your settings a go.

Anyone out there who has settings for the SPOON CIVIC, I'd be very appreaciative.

here's mines...it might not match your driving style but give it a try..

spring: 15.5/15.5
height: 97/95
bound: 6/9
rebound: 10/10
camber: 3.5/4.0
toe: -20/+5
stab: 6/7

gears you can decide....mines are
final:4444
auto:28
for the gears i just make the 1st and second as long as possible and the rest as short as possible and so that they all line up...

Does that really work for you? That's pretty amazing. I mean, -20 front toe? You must have a pretty way out-there driving style.

I have no special settings (height lwered to the minimum, brakes to the max, custom gear ratio, ASM:2, TCS:4), but I can tell you what I do is entering the corners braking, then handle it in large corners (pressing soft the accelerator), and in the final of the corner press the accelerator t the max. That's easy and I think it don't understeers so much.

of course it works for me....like i said we all have our own driving style....it might not match the way you drive but for me it's good.....try them yourself...the response is very nice but the dang car still power understeers other than that it performs very well for a FF car. i been able to take some of my friends integra Rs with that setup and Integra Rs are faster through the straights and turns....

Here's where I ended up with my 480hp ITR. I know it's a different car, but the settings should be very similar.

Springs: 9.0/12.0
Ride Ht: 100/95
Bound: 3/10
Rebound: 3/10

Camber: 3.5/0.0
Toe: +0.5/-2.0
Swaybar: 3/6
Brakes: 14/24

The other thing that I noticed is that contrary to what I expected, the car actually behaved better without the LSD installed.

Yeah, I thought so too. Try pulling it out and see what you get.

The other thing to remember is that no matter how good a car it is, and how well sorted, around 300 hp is the useful limit for a FWD car. After that you seriously compromise your handling in the name of extra power.

Oh. Duh. Have you got any settings, gumpy?

No. Sorry buddy. The FF car I used was the Beetle Cup Car. I have only driven the Spoon for about 2km just to see the redline.

I now have some settings as I used the white Spoon Civic to win the yellow one in my second game save.

I am at work so don't have specifics but I increased rear ride height to about 1/2 to 2/3 to the right and increased rear springs to hardest. This is imilar to the Vitz settings.

If you want specifics I will get them tonight.

Sorry dude. I didn't get online until late last night.

Will get the settings tonight.

I have a few questions for you though.

1. Do you want to use auto or manual gears ?
2. Do you have a preferred setting for TCS and ASM ?
3. Do you have a preference regarding the LSD ?

Yeah, mate.
  • I'll be using Manual.
  • TCS: 2, ASM: Off.
  • LSD? I'm not a great LSD tuner, so I'll just take whatever settings give the best compromise between speed and handling.

Okay?

Okay?

Yeah that is cool. I turned TCS down but not as low as 2. I noticed TCS engaged in 4th gear so with my gear settings you would get massive wheelspin. I know the best TCS setting is normally low but I think I may have had it at 4.

With the gears I did the following (and this is now my process for setting gearing on all cars).

1. Found the auto setting that allows 6th gear to max out at the end of the longest straight (but only just).
2. Note the ratio of 5th and 6th gears.
3. Change the auto setting between 1 and 3 settings towards acceleration (left) depending on various factors (see note below step 4).
4. Manually change the ratio of 5th and 6th close to what was noted in step 2.

For F1 cars at GV for example I used 3 because the windy section requires acceleration and the straight requires speed and the F1 engine can still accelerate at an acceptable level in 5th gear when there is a big jump from 4th. In lower powered cars and FF cars I normally make it only 1 setting to the left as they will struggle to accelerate in 5th. Most other cars I use 2 settings to the left.

In the Spoon this will result in wheelspin in the lower gears if little or no TCS used

Anyway rather than keep guessing I will get the settings tonight and post them.

Ho-kay.

I normally set up the gears like this:

-- 1 through 4 extremely short,
-- 5 and 6 extremely wide.

Although with the Spoon Civic I may have to toy with that a bit, ans greater acceleration equals lower speed, and the Spoon maxes out at about 250km/h using the gear settings I'm currently running.

Yeah. That is the short way of describing what I do.

I don't have mine setup to beat another Spoon so it may not be the very best.

With lower TCS it might be worth trying this.

1. Start with your current gears ie 1-4 short and 5-6 long.
2. Keep the gaps between 1-4 the same but shift them all longer.

eg if you had this

1st 4.000
2nd 3.200
3rd 2.500
4th 1.800
5th 1.100
6th 0.800

Go to this

1st 3.700
2nd 2.900
3rd 2.200
4th 1.500
5th 1.100
6th 0.800

I reduced the values for 1-4 by 0.300 each time. This will reduce wheelspin a little but also acceleration.

What are you wanting to use the Spoon for ? Just general driving or to take on a particular series ?

Just went over to GTVault.com and found this.

It would be pretty similar to my setup and you have it now rather than waiting any longer. (I have an issue at home in that I have to wait until the kids get off the PS2 and go to bed and then I get on until I need some sleep so rarely go to the PC after the PS2).

Mine has more ride height at the rear (I think about 10mm) but you will need to fine tune for your driving style anyway. Other than that the differences would be minor.

And if you read the notes you will see someone thinks it has too much oversteer.

None of the other GTVault setups would be anything like mine.

EDIT: Actually my bound and rebound from memory are Bound 7/10 Rebound 7/8 or something like that. I would suggest start with Fumes setup and fiddle with bound and rebound to suit your style.

Nah, it's a good car to practice Manual with, so I thought I'd (first win it again, friggin' corrupt card :irked: ) use it to complete some Solo Events in Beginner.
