Help my Viper oversteers!

mount the engine tranversely :D make it a FWD car

just saying it oversteers doesn't really help much
How does it do on low speed corners?
Mid speed?
High speed?
what settings do you have?
are you using TCS?

I mean a general statement of it oversteering really doesn't leave too much room for us to help you.

Mid speed and slow speed:rolleyes: and the settings are normal except for gear ratios [wide] and its fully tuned

The Viper is an FR car, so will oversteer anyway. The normal one has 500hp, which only makes things worse. The full-tune one has 1000hp - imagine the fun.

Get your Traction Control ON - at least to 1, possibly 2 given the high power. The longer gearing you have helps. Try using manual transmission and changing up a gear before you accelerate too. Increase downforce to maximum.

You'll want to stiffen up those springs from stock. Set it to 10.0/10.0 and take her for a spin. If it's still oversteering, increase the rear springs by 1.0. If it still oversteers, increase it some more, and so on.

Increase stabiliser settings - 4/4 is a good bet on most cars.

Set front toe to -0.5 - that will help the car turn in better and negate oversteer a little. Increase rear camber so it is closer to front camber - try 2.5/2.2.

If you don't have one, buy a Fully Customised Limited Slip Differential. Set it to 0/60 all round.

And if NONE of this works, get a different car and learn how to drive first, before taking a stupid, overpowered lump out on track. In most cases, the biggest Turbo/NA upgrade is unnecessary and can LOSE you time through lack of car control.

You can drive just fine but your asking for help controlling the oversteer on your unnecessarily suped up Oreca Viper? Yup...

I'd suggest that if you want to be all precious, the internet really isn't the place for you.

Flaming, to me, involves the flinging of repeated, unwarranted insults and swearing. Rather than this attempt to help you out.

I agree with everything speedy_samurai said.

...give me a car with oversteer any day, beats understeer anytime

I will also suggest learning to drive, if you cant control a car that oversteers, well...

Actually, though I'm not sure why I'm making the effort, I'm going to disagree a bit with some of what Famine said.

After the 10.0/10.0 spring run, if it still oversteers, try softening the rears to 9.0 and see if that helps. Also, reduce the rear stabilizer bar: try 4/3. You can also set the rear toe to +0.5 and see what that does.

But the number one thing to do is learn not to puish the gas pedal as hard on cars with 1000 hp.

The spring rate numbers will vary, but in general, yes, it's a basic way to go. Try softening your rear shock rebound a little, as well.
