HELP!!! Not loading right???

Hello.

I wiped the dust off my GT4 the other day and started playing it again. Boy, brings back memories! I had an issue though. I was racing in the Stars of Pl-something series (Subarus) and after the 4th race, when loading, the little swooshy circle at the bottom of the screen that's normally white, turned red. The game seemingly stopped loading. And no matter how many times I try to eject it and wipe it off, nothing works. Is the game just scratched?

So, in my misfortune, I played some GT3 (boy, that seems ancient!) and the disc is WAY more scratched up but it plays perfectly! What's going on here? Any tips or tricks I can do to get this to stop happening?

they are cheap as chips if you want a new one. failing that clean the laser on your machine

So the disc is just jacked up? It's not even bad. lol. Unbelievable...

yeah when was the last time you cleaned teh laser on your ps2? prolly havent right? give it a try, take 2 bex and call me in the mornig _

I completely took apart my unit and cleaned it vigorously. The lens wasn't even dusty AT ALL. I don't understand. I then half reassembled it and tried it again and it did the same thing. Is it probably just the game it's self? Most of the links in those other posts are out of date. Is it probably just the game then, not the unit? Also, I've heard mixed emotions about the slimline unit. Will it give this error? Some people say yes, some say no. What's up here? All I want to do is play my freakin' game.

BTW: This is my second PS2 (my first one was from the first production run) and my GT4 was also from the first production run. I heard about bad batches of discs. Is this part of my problem? The disc or unit never gave me issues before though...

I've heard that more people had trouble with discs of the first production, including a friend of mine, he just couldn't seem to help it out, and just bought a new disc and there wasn't a problem anymore.
