Hello !

I've been using the ps3 controller for a long time now a found out that i wanted to try out drifting with a wheel instead, so then i had 2 options: the cheap DFGT or the expensive G25.

I wanted the DFGT but what about the missing cluth and that i have to turn the wheel half way to china (900).

So there's the question, do i need the cluth for drifting in the top? And do i need 250 turnings to turn the car fast?

Help ! :)

Its great that you want to move to a wheel and it greatly improves the experience with any game. I don't do much drifting but some people have modified their G25 with an external park break lever just for this driving style (you can use search function to find it). A couple of things I have learned since I have both the DFGT and the G25

1. Give the wheel a chance, it takes practice...practice...practice... and patience. It takes anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to really nail it down and be comparable to the controller.
2. The DFGT is nice since all the buttons are labeled, the sequential shifter is OK but I didn't like it mounted next to the wheel. The pedals are ok and like any other wheel they have no resistance but have upgraged electronics compared to the other logitech wheels.
3. The G25 is expensive, but if your serious I would recommend it. If you start with a DFGT or any other wheel without a shifter and clutch you will have to train yourself all over again if you upgrade. The G25 buttons are not hard to figure out, but they are not labeled. The pedals are great as the clutch, brake, and gas all have different resistance (not adjustable). the wheel itself is very smooth and comfortable as is the DFGT.
4. There are several modifications listed in this forum for the G25 that may help you decide. There are several other threads regarding both the G25, DFGT, and Fanetec wheels to help you decide.

Good Luck 👍

Well looks like the G25 got a home run here. Cannot belive i wasted 274,50 USD on playing a little diffrent on GT5...

Hope it was worth the money :)

hello all ive got some of the best scores on GT and i use DF EX i have tried the DF GT didnt like ,so the cheapest wheel is best for me but they do break very easy but for £30 cannt go wrong . G25 is the daddy if youve got fast reactions.

Didn't really take much time to get used to the G25 alerady im driving faster than with controller by using cluth gearing, but still...drifting? w00t w00t :embarrassed:
From good to bad in 2 sec i just cannot drift with G25 :/
It's so much easier whit the controller and u have all the buttons in one place
and specilly the handbrake. Can't drift without a hand brake with my lotus on eiger and when i manage to get a drift with regular pedal breaking i just spinn 180 degrees and have to restart :( AAAAAAAAAAA

Dunno if i need to be training for like 2 years to get the drift skills on the wheel but for racing i just loooove the G25 and definitley worth the money :)

Yaaa for a while i couldnt drift with the controller then I got the hang of it, now when i got my g25 i thought it would be cakes.....turn i cant get pass turn one on eiger ( and thats with all aids off) I figure when i get a sturdy wheel stand i should get better by the time GT5 comes out.

Edit..

Just practice.. make sure you are playing on Professional mode.. Traction controls off. ABS1, Simulation mode in options (whcih I think wont do anything but just keep it on sim just in case),
Power Steering OFF
Active Steering off

It wokrs on PS2 and Force feedback games. Yes it works with GT4.. But clutch wont work on that game, as well H shifter.. the Wheel paddles work as well sequential shifter works. If you only have PS2 and GT4. It's not worth the money.

Acually getting a start on the drifting here. With the newest evo /tuned on eiger. And with the wheel the drifts are more controlled and feels good so i'll take it from there ^^

all i have is 1 question, although i will proably never visit this thread again

does the g25's 900 degree turning work on gt4 for the ps2. if so how.
