i got a ps3 and a gt5:Prologue yesterday but i'm having some problems now.first i played the game without connecting internet neither wired nor wireless.then i saw the spec 3 update on this forum and wanted to update my game too.but the problem is in here.i'm connecting via ethernet cable because i don't have a wireless router.whenever i try to play the game it reminds me that i should update the game.it's ok i want it too but it does not work :(

update bar is going very slow and at about %3-4 it breaks :S it fails.then if i want it starts from the beginning.but this is only for this game.

i can download demos, themes, applications from ps store but nothing works in the gt5 prologue.

so if anybody have the same problem or can tell me the solution please help me. i really want to play this game updated so i relly need your help...

Sounds to me like normal Gran Turismo updating to me. My update this time only failed twice, but ones before that have failed many times.

You have got to keep trying mate. When it fails, click the news section and it will carry on from where it failed.

oh but i noticed something now.i'm using a software that shows me the download and upload status.it's called du meter. i can see how much i'm downloading at how much speed.this is for upload too.

so when i try to update gt prologue the led on the modem is blinking.this is good.the status bar in the game moves very slowly.this is good too.but the download status on the du meter shows nothing :S i can't see any download or upload. this makes me curious.i'm getting nervous mates.what should i do :S

come on guys. isn't there really somebody to help me :S

i bought the ps3 only for this game but now i will have to sell it if i can't fix this problem.before posting this i tried 3 times again but the same problem.it crashes at about %3-4.i think i am losing my all hope :S

by the way i live in turkey so we don't have a psn network.i try to download from my country and from england account.none of them work.same problem.

and my connection is 1 mbps :S don't laugh at me in this country max is 4 mbps :S

please help me guys.i bet you know the solution...

and some people told me that just try. i know that ps3 saves the downloaded part like flashget on pc.so you won't download from the beginning.and you have lots of broad band like 10-50-100 mbps so this means that you can download 1 to 10 mb per second.so trying over and over makes a good point for you.but what should i do with my 0.1 mb per second connection :S i dislike this update thing via ps3.it should be via usb memories too. what a pity to me :S

I can't think what else you could try. Sounds like your connection and Playstation are fine and as you said, the game is the culprit. I think your game data is corrupt.

So, you get no progress bar (not even the bar outline) ? What error message (if there is one) comes up when you attempt to update?

It might be time for plan B - to reinstall the game...

Your credits, cars / garage and event progress are saved in one file named 'Gran Turismo 5 Prologue' found in the Playstation's XMB under Game > Save Data Utility. By hovering over the file, it should show a description of the file and clarify that is what it is. The game install and updates etc. are under Game > Game Data Utility - this is the data that I believe is corrupt and needs deleting / reinstalling.

This is what I would do:

+ Put in a USB memory stick.
+ On the XMB, under Game, go to 'Saved Data Utility'.
+ Find the file called 'Gran Turismo 5 Prologue' and ensure it's description confirms it is your game progress file. You can also back up any replays you have - they will also appear within the 'Saved Data Utility' as seperate files for each replay.
+ Press triangle on the appropriate file(s) and choose Copy - copy to your memory stick. Ensure the correct file(s) are on the memory stick before proceedeing further!
+ Remove your memory stick for now.
+ Go to 'Game Data Utility' and delete the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue data (mine's about 6.5GB in size!).
+ Restart the Playstation.
+ Load up Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and you should be prompted to reinstall the game.
+ After the reinstall, run through all the game's updates from the News section.

Deleting and reinstalling the game might leave the saved game progress and replay files within 'Saved Data Utility' but if not, copy the backed up file(s) from your memory stick back to your Playstation after the install.

I hope this works for you if you decide to do this. Good luck!

I had the same problem. Tried the update (spec III) 20 plus times. Always failed. I followed the process quoted above (found from the link in the previous message) and spec III loaded on the first or second attempt.

Hope you get it going. Good luck.
