Hi

I have a Gigabyte GA-G41m Combo motherboard, purchased DDR3 RAM so i need to update the BIOS. I have tried updating the BIOS using Qflash, downloaded the update file, extracted it to a USB. Following this i tried using Qflash, and then attempted to update and it simply returns with "BIOS ID CHECK ERROR"

Would appreciate the help, any ideas?

thanks 👍

These new UEFI bios files have to have the correct name or they wont work.

And are you sure you need to flash the bios?
Doing so is risky at the best of times and should only be done if it really needs it.

What kind of ram and CPU do you have?

Thanks for the response,

I've had a look online, tomshardware forums, most users with a ga g41m combo have had to update the BIOS in order to switch from ddr2 to ddr3.

Its ddr3 1333mhz corsair value ram, my processor is an intel q9550.

Normally the "Memory Compatibility Guide" tells you if you need to flash to support any new kinds of ram.

You CAN NOT run DDR2 and DDR3 at the same time.

You can try upgrading to the F3 version as F2 and F3 both state they have improved memory compatibility

But make sure you get the right board revision as well v1.3, v1.4 and v2.0 have BIOS files that are not compatible with one another even though they are the same model.

The BIOS screen should tell you what revision it is.

And since this is not a UEFI board you just need the correct firmware normally.

Ok thanks, not running ddr2 and ddr3 together, just dddr3. will give it another check.

Not sure if this will help? Check out that he re named the file @1:29.

Researching this myself as my new build will need a mobo flash to rum new cpu

That is using a UEFI BIOS.

Those BIOS files need correct names.

OP has a Legacy BIOS.

Those didnt really need the correct name, if they do there will be a readme file in the BIOS folder you download.

ok sorry. Have this to do when I build mine I guess. That's why not looking forward to the build.
