Here is my setup, what do think?

After ordering the G25, I had a few days to work on my design. I was thinking something industrial/art deco would be kind of nice.

After measuring my Legacy 2.5 GT, and doing a few mock-ups, I started on the construction.

Here is the first setup, still needing some fine tuning. The camera flash and lighting seems to make some flaws in the finish show up more than they are. I had to decide between taking it all back to the shop for a final really nice paint job, or leave it like this and get back into my game. Guess which one I picked?

with some connections done, and testing the setup here

This quickly began to evolve into a more complex setup, as you can see here. (Do you really expect me to race without Excel and GTPlanet at my side?)

and here is the view from the 'back seat' hehe

Again, you can see that the setup has now really evolved... DS controller is in its holder, as I still use it sometimes for navigating menus. The cable management area has room for the cell phone charger and laptop power brick. The left of the wheel has cell phone, headset and notepad. There is also a drawer in the laptop table.

Here is a closeup of the stickshift mount, which doubles as the cable management area. I was going to fabricate a cover for this, but hey, TIME TO GET BACK TO RACING!

So anyway thats my little setup, what do you think? I love this G25 wheel! :) :) :) It's pure driving pleasure! Keep up the great work Logitech!

This is a nice setup but what happens when someone needs to watch the need tv. Or is this your special room? I must say that i have thought of something like that but not that big. How much time? How much was the cost?

oh noes! i forgot the coffee cup holder!!

As far as cost, I built this mostly out of stuff laying around the house, other than a some 2x2, which was really inexpensive ( $20 at the most). The top shelf is made from a 1x8 shelf which I cut in half, the sides are 1x4 and the base is cobbled together from leftover 1x4 and 1x6. I had the carpet for the base leftover from doing the living room a few months ago. Notice, its the exact same as the floor :)

In the first picture you can see that I assembled a scale mockup first, the main reason for doing that, was to be sure I could make it from what I have on hand.
If I had to estimate cost without having the stuff laying around? Maybe $40 at the most. That would be for 2x2, 1x4, 1/2 sheet of plywood (instead of the shelf and scraps I used), and some paint and screws. It was really easy to build, and although I used a lot of tools, all you really need is a handsaw, a mitre box and a drill.

I can easily pull the entire setup out of the way if I have anyone over. See picture #3, there is plenty of room between the cat and the guitar, up next to the window. It would be more difficult without the cable management, but with everything wrapped up like this, there is only one 'cable' and if necessary, I can unplug everything and move it out of the room entirely.

hey rocker, i might be a noob asking this question but what wheel is that? where did you buy it? i see tta it has the clutch and everything. i have the regular one that has the "GT" symbol in the wheel, you know the one that says inm the box "best with gt4" or something like that. well thanx for your help and really, really nice work man, i wish i was there doing some drifting damage. lol

Not too shabby. Needs a cupholder, I sure do like the laptop availability, with Vista, you can supposedly dictate your notes and journal entries via microphone, that would be sweet. Figure something out for the feet, so you can get rid of the upside down carpet stuff. How much better is that g25? I just bought another Logitech product, the mx revolution mouse, and it is awesome. Best mouse you've ever used, truly 'revolutionary' in design.

I always appreciate anyone who takes the time to tie wire the cords out of the way and make things look nice. I usually do that on everything in my house.

👍

I just noticed that, very cool! 👍 Sweet set-up, indeed! I'm toying with the idea of investing a decent screen (although not as big as yours) in order to do justice to the PS3 when it arrives, but I doubt I'll ever get round to building a racing set up like this! I have had the pleasure of using VEXD's custom-built driving seat at the UKGTP meetings here, however, and it does give a much more realistic driving experience, so I'm sure the time you've spent making your rig will be time well spent, esp. if you intend to invest in a PS3 and play future GT games!
