Her's a computer I'm checking out - any opinions?

Here's the site

It's a nice price for what I want, and it's better than 166 Mhz. Just wondering what you guys think seeing as you're all way more computer purchasing savvy than I am. Thanks.

[EDIT]It's the 3500 model[/EDIT]

It's OK, but it has two big drawbacks. No DVDR, and a small hard drive.

I'm still waiting for the new H-d DVDR drives to come out before I get my new PC.

Heh, yeah! 80gigs wil fill up in like...3 years! Way to small!

Ever think about building your own computer? It's really quite easy, and as long as you follow some small, easy guidelines, the chances of you killing something are pretty small.

Of course, if you don't feel like doing that, the 3500 isn't bad. Better than what I've got. Man I need more RAM...

[edit]One thing, for under $20 more you can get the same HD, only it's 120GB. That is pretty much a must considering you would be getting another 40gigs for like $17[/edit]

A little too overpriced imho..

If I were you...I'd go with this > http://slickdeals.net/?pno=3943&lno=1&afsrc=1

P4 2.60GHz w/800MHz front side bus/ HT Technology instead for $439 and $639 with the Radeon 9800. I suggest getting it with the Radeon since its $200 with the deal, usually it goes for around $300..

Quite a money saver compared to what your thinking about buying :)

Indeed. I've built all the computers that I've used except my very first one. I still have it. Its an old PackardBell 486. Still has windows 3.1 on it. Anyways building your own isnt hard as long as you know what you're doing.

Actually, yes, but I think I'll probably fiddle around with this computer once I get a new one, so I might just upgrade this one first, then try to start from scratch.

And no, I hadn't noticed the $17 40 gigs, I might have to consider it. It's well within my price range, and it looks pretty sound.

I'm not too worried about DVDR at this point in time, but it would be a handy thing to have.

@fiend The link to the site wouldn't load.

you know.. if u learned to assemble computers, you would save a bundle of money... for 900 dollars.. i could built a 3.x something ghz computer with a ati 9700 video card (9800 is almost the same but pricey)

Not neccesarily. See, a computer is more than graphics card and processor. There's memory, CD, DVD, HD's and all that good stuff, not to mention all of the software.
