I've been lurking around here for some time as a non-member, but decided my interest in Gran Turismo was enough to take the plunge and join in.

I grabbed the questions from the introduction page that all new GTP members see after the initial registration.

How did you find GTPlanet?
I found it by accident through a Google search while looking up some features related to Gran Turismo 5.

Where are you from?
I'm originally from Canada (km/h, eh!?), but currently in Japan.

When did you start playing the Gran Turismo games?
I think I may have been 15-16 when I tried Gran Turismo 2. My favorite racing game at the time was NFS: High Stakes, played on PC. Coming from the days of nVidia's Riva TNT, I've never been a fan of low-rez, blocky 3D graphics on PlayStation (but I loved the 2D games), and it was my first time playing a simulation-level driving game. I couldn't get used to things like braking distance and wheel lock, and gave up after the first few license tests.

It wasn't until I was 20 or so before I got back into GT via Gran Turismo 4. (I've never played GT3 and until I saw gameplay footage on YouTube I never realized how GT4 evolved the user interface so much from the previous GTs).

Now I have an (un?)healthy habit of running the 4-hour Nurburgring endurance race with Initial D Eurobeat and various other J-pop and hip hop dance music playing in the background in Gran Turismo 5.

Do you play with a steering wheel?
No. However I have always wanted to buy a wheel like the Driving Force GT. I hear reports that the wheel is so good that you can never go back to the DualShock 3, among others. I guess that it's pride, ever since I learned how not to spin the back wheels of an MR car while using a DS3 (TCS off, of course!), that is preventing me from buying a wheel and pedals.

What other games do you enjoy?
I'm quite a fan of Japanese games, especially of the JRPG type. I currently play:
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (PSP)
Gravity Daze (PS Vita)
Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3)
Binary Domain (PS3)
CoD Modern Warfare 3 (PS3)
Assassin's Creed: Revelations (PS3)

I've exited PC gaming, for better or worse.:yuck:
Battlefield 3 players: All my BF3-playing friends are on PC so I guess I'm out.

What are you most looking forward to doing in the community, now that you're a part of this site?
Hopefully I can participate in some good clean online GT5 races with fellow members. It's easier to tolerate being t-boned or rear-ended by people who at least are not complete strangers with no affliation.
