Hi everyone

Hello everyone, I looked around to see if the was a place for intro posts, but I didn't see one. Anyway, I came here from GTPlanet looking around for info on a track packs. I did see a worrying amount of resistance to the very idea, which to me seems a bit bizarre. I can't imagine that anyone would be happy with a racing game with the same old tracks so long as there are downloads for more cars. (?!?!) When I first opened Forza 4 I expected to have at least 5 (seems a fair number) new tracks to race on with more to come every 3 months. What I got was pics and video of Turn 10 employees prancing around in the Swiss Alps taking research pics for that lame garbage called the Bernese Alps circuit, (there was more to the fictional backround history than anything else) and no more tracks. .... Like ever.

Forza is a game for car guys. In the lobbies (assuming you aren't stuck in a lobby full of morons) people talk about Formula One, WTCC, WRC, IRC, BTCC, DTM, ya know,...racing stuff. Why would you not want to race at Spa Francorchamps? Or Snetterton? Brands Hatch, Brno, Oulton Park, Avus, Paul Ricard, Albert Park, Mount Panorama (!!).... All of these circuits would be great scenery for pics at the very least.

They drop off map packs on FPS games like monthly in some cases, (yeah yeah the logistics and expanse of terrain blah blah) but not in Forza. I know that they had track d/ls in 3, and the demand wasn't there (at elast to what they considered profitable). But there is a demand for them nevertheless.

I havent even mentioned night racing, rain, snow....assuming you like simulated racing conditions in a ....ya know, race sim. :)

We got Motels in FM2, Nurburgring GP in FM3 so we could still see a new track added to Forza 4 :)

Welcome by the way!

Welcome to Forza Planet, RallyCat!

I don't think you're alone in wishing, hoping, pleading, etc for some new tracks to explore. I really want to get the chance to take the Audi LMP1 around Spa... Demand for new tracks isn't the problem, for sure, and I'd bet that T10 knows that if they did come out with a track pack it'd sell like hotcakes. I'm not going to hold my breath, though, because I would also bet that T10 is facing unanticipated delays in the introduction of their first bonus track set.

Since you seem so fond ;) of Bernese Alps, check out this challenge from last season's FRS... It might change your mind, but then again, maybe not...

Thanks guys for the welcome. :) I just don't really care for the Bernese Alps long sweepers. :)

I just think the history of motorsport is important. There's rich histories in old racing circuits and how they came to be. Im just a nerd for that sort of thing. :)

Welcome to ForzaPlanet RallyCat909!

I agree with you, the track list is probably my biggest disappointment with the game. I haven't bought a single DLC car since the Season Pass expired, because there's just no point. If driving a new car kept the game from becoming stale, I'd still have hundreds of cars to go through on the game disc alone. I keep meaning to download the Legacy RS out of special interest, but I'm not really chomping at the bit to get that done.

Personally, more racetracks were never at the top of my list for additions to the game. I always wanted more fantasy roads, things like Fujimi Kaido. Now that Horizon is on its way, it seems my wish will be granted (and then some), so I'm very happy about that. At the same time, that means I'm not worried about track DLC for FM4 anymore. Not to mention I have even more reason to ignore the car packs. Maybe it's just me, but Turn 10 might have been better off to delay Horizon's announcement until the last minute!

I don't care for Bernese Alps either. It's got some interesting parts, but it's wider than the Atlantic Ocean and you have to crank the speed up to get any challenge out of it. It's like a classic Need for Speed track blown up to 3x proportions.

I would love a new track but I will repeat what I have said many times, Turn 10 released track DLC on Forza 2 and 3 and they didn't sell very well. Before Forza 4 released they asked the fans weather they wanted tracks and the response was underwhelming and the majority just wanted car packs. Turn 10 will not commit to the large amount of time it takes to make a new track if only a small number of people are interested. Plus we got Infineon, hockenhime, the bernese alps new in forza 4

IMHO, I think Turn 10 should include a new track every three or four car packs, that way the guys who would like new tracks are happy. Personally, I like to have a new track to race on every once in a while. Now I have a lot of new tracks. Also on my rant...what is with Top Gear?? both games have it, is there anything more ludicrous than that track? Before I get blasted...it is just my opinion.

^ To me the Top Gear track is the most boring, overhyped track there has ever been. I'd happily watch Top Gear on TV all day but I just despise the track, it's near impossible to race on with all the cones flying about and how narrow it is due to the walls, which if removed means most people would cheat by cutting all the corners. The only time I can bring myself to drive on it is if there is a challenge/rivals event on it because it's just so bland.

I would really enjoy a new track but I think the reason you don't see them being added as DLC so often is because a lot of the players in these games are selective on what they buy and by releasing a pack of 10 cars there is a chance that everyone has something in the pack they want to use and it requires a lot less work than creating a track which a lot of people think is boring, too expensive or just a waste of DLC when they could be getting the latest supercars in the game.

Welcome to ForzaPlanet!

The potential of the Top Gear track was squandered when they neglected to add a "free roam" variant with the full length of the runway(s) and no barriers. High-speed runs and wandering/drifting around the taxiways like the TG crew do in reviews would be great.

Still, despite being completely flat and straight-edged, I like it more than Indy/Atlanta/America/Laguna/Catalunya/Silverstone. The circuit is small enough that you don't spend boring amounts of time accelerating in a straight line, and the width variations add some interest to the corners. It's also a neat place to explore and take photos.

As I mentioned before, in 75% of the lobbies I play in, the talk is about why there aren't track downloads. At the very least, the very least, the Forza series(at some point) should have Bathurst (epic straights, elevations galore) and Spa (what do I have to say about that)?

I think its crazy that someone would resist the idea of more circuits to test their driving and tuning skills on (save a financially strapped project manager).

That and Im sick of the flat, 2482843583473 long mile straights that constitutes most of the tracks in Forza.

Are you me? :)

I'm willing to bet they selected tracks based on multiplayer-friendliness, the same oft-quoted reason for the inaccurate Nordschleife. Fewer blind corners and elevation changes, wide stretches of straight pavement to encourage passing (and allow inexperienced players to exploit their overpowered death traps), and plenty of run-off space -- slathered in either Black Hole™ brand superglue or an invisible oil slick, of course.

It's the price to pay for the game's success as "the common man's driving sim," I suppose. Though having MORE boring tracks to pick from would still be better than the current situation.

the straights favor morons that love top end speed, and crash through the field to place higher. I usually see a Honda or a muscle car using this tactic, and both b*****g about the other doing it. Hah.

This is why I love twisties.

I agree that some more technical tracks wouldn't hurt. But... I don't think it's that bad currently. Sure, some tracks have those long straights, but, then again, a lot of real tracks do. It's a pretty common feature, isn't it?

2 if you count that stupid kart track and all variations of Motegi.

3 if you count Route X as a track, it kept me occupied for approximately 20 minutes when I decided to do a lap in the Citroen 2CV and then I was bored.

I hope we do get some more technical tracks, with more elevation change. I don't mind if they're real or fictional as long as there is somewhere new to hot lap. :)

Any other track-racing game I can think of has a better selection of tracks than FM4, in my opinion: Gran Turismo, TOCA/Race Driver, Shift 2 Unleashed, etc. There are a number of popular international racetracks that have remained conspicuously absent through the series, and looking back at FM2, not much has been added.

They could always bolster their list of fantasy/road courses, too...not that something like Bernese Alps is "technical" by any stretch of the imagination.
