No half decent drifter uses comfort hards, either... yet 90% of this site does.

So basically the other 10% (you) are going around in your evo on sports hards claiming to drift. Because apparently nowadays the majority is wrong

i use comfort hard for realistic speeds and i drift in practice mode alot because i enjoy drifting. im dont do seasonal events and i rarely go online i just like to drift so i do it in practice because i can drift until my heart is content! and to me thats a sign of a true drifter! not my spec sheet. btw i learned how to drift in a 340bhp 180sx with sports hard tires

Wow, you inferred all that from my post? That's amazing! You really have me pegged.

How about this, how many pro drifters do you see in real life drifting on Continental all-seasons?

Answer: None. They are all using high-performance tires.

I drift on anything from Comfort Medium (in low-power sport compacts) up to Racing Hard (in muscle cars). Comfort Hard is like having plastic tires, there is no traction whatsoever. It's like drifting on ice. Which is great, don't get me wrong, I love having some fun in the snow/rain, but most people here don't even try to improve their skill on more challenging tires. They just go with comfort hards because those are the easiest. How can you even claim to be a good drifter if you never try to push your boundaries?

This is not real life my man, and comparing a video game to real life really has no merit. Gran Turismo is not real life.

There is far more skill in drifting on comfort hards than any other tire. Seriously - spend more than a week drifting on comfort hards and really apply your "skills." Comfort hards require the most car control out of every other tire.

I started on sports hards and switched to comfort hards and never looked back. It is the best tire for tandems and that is (IMO) the best part of drifting (aside from going sideways). Check out the videos in UKO's EvergreenDrift lobby (Goracle already posted one for you) and check out my team videos. THAT is drifting at its finest...

Good luck man!

This is a simulation game, not an arcade game, so yes comparing the two does have merit. Sure it's not exact, but the same general physics apply spot-on. Stiffer tires give the same result as in real life: more traction, higher speed through corners, less margin for error.

I'm trying hard not to be overly offensive, but it's really disturbing coming on this forum and seeing stuff like "There is far more skill in drifting on comfort hards than any other tire." That is just flat-out wrong, there is nothing right about that statement.

ok, so this thread went from scoring to a rant about tires and real life.

I use comfort hards mainly to tandem but if i feel i need more speed then ill put on comfort mediums but when using CM's im sacrificing my angle for speed so ill stick with my CH's over any tire period.

remember its just a video game your supposed to have fun.

No, pro's dont use racing tyres they use street legal tyres (D1GP) and most other competitions as you're looked down on when drifting with racing tyres. And no, GT5 isnt a simulator and cant be compared to real life, in fact its more arcadey and real life drifters use LFS for simulation. I'm not just saying that I know 2 people that have and do do this.

I didn't say racing slicks, I said performance tires. As in look at the tread on those tires and tell me they are $80 tires. No chance. Those guys use performance tires with loads of traction. If you took a car out there in all-season tires (the real life equivalent of Comfort Hard) they would be passing you on the outside and laughing.

"Gran Turismo 5: The Real Driving Simulator." Enough said?

Anyway, I didn't intend to hijack the thread like this. I'll let it drop.

I don't attempt to drift often, but what if you used CM in the front and CH in the rear? My point is harder tires in the rear than the front

If you reread what you said you said you use anything up to racing hards. Oh and I just made a new game, its coming out around christmas so be sure not to miss out, it called BATTLE, the real war simulator.
Just because you label it as something doesnt make it so, does it.

LOL!!! OK Bro... I don't get into the whole e-peen thing as I don't have the time or patience... So you win!

You keep on using those racing tires and drag racing corner to corner only to slow down to "drift" around it and then drag race to the next corner... If that's fun to you - then so be it! Who are we to tell you how to play the game the way you want to play it... You're entitled to your opinion and I respect that...

As I said before - Good luck man and have fun!

LMAO!!!! You killed it with this one Driifterz... Seriously I was dying when I read this one...

OK... I'm out of this thread... But thanks for the laughs guys...

Hello guys and girls, ive got a score round Tsubuka 37,467 in a speed12, have saved the replay just need to upload on utube, have fun friends.

Dude, this thread has been dead for a while, I don't think anyone cars. I know I don't. Have a good day.

If you don't care, don't post. It's that simple. This forum is getting ridiculous with a select few people who just spam every thread.
