My lady and I went camping last night. There's a nice little state park about 60 miles northwest of here that we drove to on friday night. We got out, hiked around for about an hour, then went to find a place to throw up the tent. We got the tent up and started dinner right as the sun was setting. I actually had to use a flashlight to check the food while it was cooking (:

We had a really great time and are looking forward to going again soon. The only bad parts were the sub freezing tempuratures and the 30+mph wind gusts. The tent we had was designed for four people, so we fit in it nicely with the rest of our gear.

Eventually I'd like to do a real camping / hiking trip with my sister. Go out for about six days in the woods. I'll have to work up to that though.

Another cool thing was there were no other people around. Really made it nice.

I made sausage and orzo (kind of a rice pasta). By the way, brown mustard does not go well with orzo.

Now, I know this isn't true "camping" ... I mean, pre-established campsites about 100 yards from a lodge really aren't that 'hardcore'. But to even make it less impressive, the nuclear ractor power plant was even in sight. *sigh*

I go camping all the time, usually for about 1-2 week's, it's really fun the only bad part is the parent's make the kid's do the washeing up!

Hope ya had a good time, When i was younger my family used to camp literally all summer, in a trailler of course but still just to get out of the city and doing stuff out of te norm is fun. I'd actually like to try a canoe trip, or some other type of back county thing,......

I love camping, I'll even go when its like -15 Celcius, and I dont bring much food cause I usally fish for my food (but I do have backup!!) and usally the best spots are the spots no one ever goes to, where thay have only the basic stuff...like a spot to put up your tent...thats all, got to dig a hole to take a crap! and bring a water pump and filter.....thats the life, living off the land:D ...none of this trailer crap:irked:

I used to camp, but now that we have a house in the hills that is surrounded by forest, and we have a cabin home in Big Bear (currently looking for a bigger home), I don't see the need to do it anymore.

I usually pitch a tent in the "backyard" for the boys. They've never asked to go "real" camping yet, but when the youngest gets a little older, we'll go for a weekend.

I like camping but only for a couple day's, max. I just like to shower and shave and **** in an actual toilet too much.

My wife and son and I go hiking on weekends, just day hikes; drive time + hike time + drive home time = most of a day.

I got a backpack/child carrier for my birthday last year so Alex rides on my back. He loves it. The first time I carried him in it it almost killed me. And that was why I went on a diet and got back in shape. Now its easy and we have a lot more fun when I'm not having to stop and rest every ten minutes.
