I want to show you the Hillclimb car of team edlinger driven by Erich Edlinger. This car was built in cooperation with KOPPE Automotive Engineering.
As you see, the basis is an E30 but now there is an 3,5l V8 IRL inside and a gearbox from formula1 and the aerodynamics changed the original style of the E30. Everything is designed to generate maximum downforces and to reach a weight around 800kg.

Technical Data:

- 3.5l V8 from Indy Racing Ligeaue (IRL)
570HP @ 11300rpm
- F1 gearbox (Prost) , shifted per steering wheel controls
- race-ready weight 860Kg (because of regulations)

Ive been following edlinger's and plaza's (RIP) bmws for a while. I did wonder if there are any shots of the underside. I simply as as im not sure how efficient such a large diffuser would be for the ammound of air going under and possible obstructions by rear suspension.

Just watched the youtube vid, the sound reminds me of old F1 cars from the late 80s early 90s, sounds incredible.

I've fallen in love with another car. It usually happens when these threads are made.

Also what is it like to pilot a rocket ship like that. :sly:

Great to hear that you like it ;)

I just can say that the diffuser works great. Sure it is risky to build such a big one but if it works :sly:

so long

Do you have any HD videos of your sessions? Always great to see race teams from around home (even tho I'm from the Bavarian side of the border). :)

Loving these hillclimb machines, huge fan of Plasa (R.I.P.) and it's great to see that other people are still building cars like that E30.

EDIT: Incredible video!

Thanks !

I'd love to see some of these crazy Euro hillclimb specials make a run at Pikes Peak this summer. It's entirely paved now :)

Yes I know, I can't wait to see the cars for 2012. The cars will be more similar to the hillclimb cars in europe.
And I am looking forward to see impressive world records ;)

After great pre-season testings, the car was prepared for the first year of 2012 for team edlinger. At Rechberg, Erich Edlinger showed about 30000 people watching all of his great driving abilities and after a great day he was the best Austrian driver and best overall touring car, he even left great drivers like Herman Waldy behind him and was ahead of some F3000 and achieved a sensational 8th place in the overall classification!

Thanks to the Hillclimbfans for that impressive video !

Here is the newest video, from our last racing event in Kitzeck (AUT).
Extremely successful wekkend for us. Best touring car and just a few tenths behind the fastest Formula 3000.

Sooooo awesome, I wish someone would build it for rFactor!

Do you race in rfactor too ?!
Me too!!

I love to go up the hillclimb tracks 👍
If you have connections to someone who is able to build cars for rfactor just inform me please! ;)

After our last race last Sunday, we can look back happily once again.
Erich Edlinger in his BMW 320 IRL evo achieved incredible times and was fastest in every race run, as a result of that he took the overall win, the win in the “super race”, a single run with the 10 fastest cars of the race and he also set a new Trackrecord at St Peter / Kammersberg which is part of the Styrian Hill Climb Championship.

some impressions you might find watching the video:

I’d like to inform you about our latest racing event:
In St Urban, Austria, Erich Edlinger set an amazing pace once again, and dominated over all touring cars. He was over 8 seconds in front of the second placed touring car, a Porsche 911 GT2 RSR. With this times he was even in the position to fight with the 300kg lighter Formula 3000 cars for the overall victory. At the end an outstanding 3rd place in the overall classification was a great success for the team edlinger.
