This is what a sad (american) person said about non-american(mostly Japanese) cars:

Hey ********, get a clue, please, for the sake of us all. Here's the American logic for making power: "Let's throw on a few more cubes and get more power all across the powerband." Here's what all the idiot's like you think: "Hey, it's alright our engines suck, we can hide all that with some turbos." Let's see someone stick twin turbos on the LS6 Vette engine, then let's see what happens. Or even better, lets see someone rip out the turbos in one of your beloved and so "technological advanced" four poppers, then let's see how much talk you do at the drag strip, or anywhere else for that matter. So don't start talking crap on our American displacement until you decide to quit hiding behind your forced induction. You do know what N/A stands for, right? Natually Aspirated. That's what the Vette is, it doesn't need anything to boost it above a certain RPM range, it can handle all the power making by itself. And another thing, ever see a car go 1/4 mile in under 4 seconds? Top Fuel Eliminators come to mind. Want to learn something else too, they have the pushrods. They are the fastest and probably some of the most powerful cars ever built. And since you seem so intent on dwelling on hp/L, do me a favor and go figure out what it is for one of those. Let's see, four digit horsepower levels, an enigine around 8.something, you do the math. Thats kinda what happens when you take our engines and jam em full of air like you do with your turbos, they make more power then anything else out there. Yeah, even with the pushrods, which in no way even hinders an engine. So just do us a favor and shut your hole until you learn a little something about cars.

And in response to your "all american cars make horsepower by displacement." How about this: All cars that aren't American just make horsepower by forced induction

And about the "they compared the Z06 to the new NSX and the porsche 911...and of course like every other comparison the Z06 has a 5.7L and the Porsche has a 3.6L and the NSX has a 3.2L.....and the whole article is about how the Z06 has more power....oh my god it has a 2L displacement advantage of course it is going to have more power...." Did you ever consider this: "The Z06 is naturally aspirated and the Porsche and NSX are both turboed and have more air rammed down there intakes then would fit between the gap the Vette wins by on the race track....they both have a 2 turbo advantage of course they should be able to keep up.....but neither of them can" Maybe you do have smaller engines, but that's no excuss, because you still have the turbos that you have for so long thought were so much better, so quit crying and learn a little.

I wish people would stop flaming other people about this. You shouldn't flame someone for what they like. You like what you like, they like what they like.

If they like something different, big deal. Get over it. :embarrassed:

Yeah, but when someone's completely ignorant and has little common sense, they need to be constructively flamed. People who make generalisations about a car based on anything other than its own merits are stupid.

Um a Porsche 911 and an NSX dont have turbo's. (I know it wasn't the 911 Turbo because they wouldn't compare it to an NSX or Z06)

PLEASE tell me where that site is. I have to talk to that guy and wish death upon him for being so "American" and ingnorant, tasteless and stupid.

So you want to 'talk' with him about making generalisations when you just made one yourself.

When I said "American" I meant bias towards American cars.

Here is an example: My brother's first car was/still a 1988 Ford Mustang 5.0L LX 5 Spd. He now loves every Ford product no matter what. For instance, he didn't like the Impala SS because it was apparently too big and slow. Now Ford comes out with Marauder and he loves it. He used to dis Integra Type-r's and GSR's and other VTEC or VVT-i cars because they have no torque, now Ford comes out with the SVT Focus which uses a "High-Performance" 2.0L with 170hp and 140TQ and my brother thinks they are so sweet. So basically, if Ford came out with a 3 wheeled car powered by solar power my brother and Many other blatantly Ford fans would like it.

What I am trying to say is, these people will like American stuff no matter what it is. To the point of complete irrationality.

Anyone who can think logically sees no reason to think of a turbo as a crutch, I like ALOT of cars from all parts of the world. I dont really care what it uses to get power, in fact I LOVE cars with every type of engine in them. I see no reason to not like any type of car from a certain country. But anyways, I am really rambling.

The Z06, NSX AND 911 are 3 of perhaps my 10 or 15 favourite cars of all time.

I would really like to own a Porsche 911 Coupe 6 Spd. Just the simple bare bones 911 would be such a perfect driving machine.

Not really,
I have owned good cars from all over.
I was really fond of my Nissan. I had a Austin America that was a POS, but it was kinda cool in a funky way. My VW microbus, even with all its 'personality' was fun to own.
I loved the Fords I grew up with and the two I currently own.
I am becoming fond of the Chevy I bought Tuesday.
I loathe the Plymouth that the Chev is replacing.

There are plenty of us out here in the real world that can see the merits of cars and over look the country of manufacture.

Then theres this guy who has a nice Jag that he thinks is cool, and it probably is, and talks about his Honda that is all torn apart, cause it "lived hard" and died young. But his screen-name reflects the dead Honda, not the Jag. :Poke:

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's like the Apple Jacks commercial. The kids "eat what they like". We drive what we like, and can afford at the time and make the best of it while we can.

And please remember, all, when we point a finger at someone and complain about his opinion or behavior, three fingers are pointing back at us.
We all have a right to our opinions, even if we are wrong. :D

I am VERY confused. Are you agreeing with me and the fact that I like cars from every where regardless of where they are from. Or are you trying to rib me about my torn up Civic and "cool" Jaguar? I get a hard time from alot of people for driving a Jaguar, but it doesnt bother me. I am the one who knows it only cost $14,000 USD and they can think what they like.

Please explain what you are trying to say to me, like I am a 5 year old.

because a car has higher displacement doesn't mean it has more hp...does it?

I can just imagine the spittle at the corners of this guy's mouth....

I love this quote:
And in response to your "all american cars make horsepower by displacement." How about this: All cars that aren't American just make horsepower by forced induction

Mmm.... last time I checked under the bonnet of my Japanese car I don't remember seeing a turbo.

Grade A Clown...

Yes,
I was kinda "giving your beard a tug":D

All I was trying to say, to all, not just to you. Is the best approach is to buy the car that best suits your lifestyle and pocketbook. So, I guess I am agreeing w/you to a point.
It is a human habit to re-think what you have bought. We all want our stuff to be the best. And in the process of wanting this we get our egos tied up in the ownership of our stuff. Especially cars.

Enjoy what you buy because YOU enjoy it. If you get stuff just to impress the folks around you, you will stay broke trying to keep up with the "fads".

For the easist explanation: "The only person you have to impress is YOU"

M5:
I bought a boring Venture Mini-van. Have to carry around six kids. The '95 Mitsu 3000GT for $8900 was just out of the question. :D
It's pretty cool as Mini-vans go. Seats all eight of us, has great tunes, AND room for our crap when we travel.
I still would have liked to get the Mitsu...

When I buy a car (a few years away yet) I'll buy one which combins what I want and what I need. I don't care what nationality the maker is. So long as it runs fairly reliably and I like it, it could be made in Antartica for all I care. Unless I just keep the 1988 Mazda 323 my parents have given to me (which doesn't have a turbo).

Looking at your little description, 12.sec Civic, your Honda doesn't sound that bad. And £10,000 for an XJ6 sounds great. As long as you're happy, it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks.
