Hey guys, I'm looking at starting an online racing league for Holden Vs Ford or Holden Vs Holden on GT5.

I currently own the Monaro CV8, I haven't come across the VY S S or the AU Falcon in the used car dealership as yet.

Once you work the engines and slap a coat of paint on, they actually drive very well, sound awesome and look really appealing .

You can work the engines to get max power out of these cars and get them over 700Hp

Lets start enjoying these wonderful Australian cars that are featured in GT5 instead of whinging about them.

For those of you that own the Holden Monaro CV8, Holden Commodore VY S S or the AU V8 Ford Falcon and are interested in some clean online racing, just reply to this thread or add me on PSN, so we can work out what days and times people are free to race.

Cheers CLIFFO

It's kinda unfair for Holden considering they're up against a fully fledged race car (that's 10 years old mind you.)

I am going to have to say the SS hardly looks great at all. It tunes well but it has no body lines at ALL, the door lines, the hood lines, the boot lines and all the rest simply are not there.

I also will have to agree that the Holdens are kind of going to fail against the incredibly hard to find Ford.

mabey if they add a 06-8 xr8 to compete with the comadore or a svt cobra to compete with the modern monaro or even a xr6 typhoon, or they just add a phase 3 that will dick on all the holdens past and present.. or a rs500.Same deal.. would be like putting one of those holden standards in game against a r32 gtr in game..................... no way son. even a tuned r30 rwd would probably eat them alive. Japanese favoritism maybe but hey this is "THE REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR" lol......... Can't argue with that slogan.

I'd be interested, but I've only got the Monaro and I'm a Ford man, so I'll wait until I can get the Falcon.
Somebody said that the Monaro and the SS have the exact same stats.

i have a nicely tuned SS not over the top tuned but basically a street machine, though I will be looking at buying a 2nd one to fully work up. Though remember one thing, the difference between the AU and the SS when fully tuned, the SS runs a 5.7L Gen III LS1. The AU runs a blueprint 5.0L race motor. So matter what its never going to be an iconic race. Now if we had the original FPV's like in GT4/PSP, then we could talk business.
In GT4, I made up a V8 supercar version of the VY (using Hybrid codes) complete with race motor from a camaro (5.0L), tuned to exactly the correct V8 supercar specs (HP, weight, Tq etc.). When I did a lap around Tsukuba with the two cars, they were within 100th of a second of eachothers time. Then I whiped out the Calsonic R32 GTR, and funny enough it had the same specs as the V8 supercars (no hybriding involved). It was a lil quicker than the 2 others. Reminded me of Bathurst all over again.
Any how, I'll be interested in some online runs with fellow Aussies. So send me a friend request with GTP Aussie race as a title so I know.

i have the Monaro and SS. but ive literally checked the Used car lot everytime i finish a couple of races, it will pop up eventually - but you have to keep and eye out for it or youll miss it.

i am interested but i have seen the XR8 Falcon in the used car dealership for 1.2million cr's. thats insane!!!!

i've only got a monaro so yea. not looking to tune it so hopefully its an untuned race.

Excellent guys, I will add you all as friends on psn so we can get racing asap.

As said before, I only have the Monaro atm.

I've done a bit of work to the engine, I would prefer a tuned engine race but for those that don't have a tuned engine don't stress because those of us that do can drop back to standard engine parts for an even race.

Are you fellas happy to start racing wednesday night 8/12/2010 at 8pm ACDT ?

PM me on GTP or PSN if your free

Hi, im up for this for sure i had the same idea but really have no time to organise a thing like this, im glad some1 else has the same idea

i actually got the VY today couldn't believe my eyes, i had been looking non stop for aussie cars the only thing i had that came close was the Pontiac GTO 5.7 (btw would this be allowed?)

would be nice to have a series with certain race nights and championship points and what not

If I can make a suggestion, I don't think you should limit yourself to one type of track. If you really want to establish Ford vs. Holden rivalry, you should race them on every variety of available circuit - road courses, street circuits, ovals, dirt courses (assuming they can be raced there). This is a calendar that I'd suggest:

Round 1 - Nurburgring Nordschelife
Round 2 - Cape Ring
Round 3 - Madrid Reverse
Round 4 - Indianapolis
Round 5 - Eiger G Trail
Round 6 - Laguna Seca
Round 7 - Rome
Round 8 - Daytona Road
Round 9 - Chamonix West
Round 10 - Special Stage Route 11

I'd say that covers just about every discipline of racing in the game.

Sounds good bro, minus the dirt tracks though, just stick to road.

We will see who rocks up tomorrow night, have a few races and take it from there regarding championship points etc.......

If someone is keen to jump aboard and help out with recording championship points and stuff, that would be great.

hmmmmm, I know the GTO is a remake of the Holden Monaro CV8 but Holdens and Fords only I'm afraid.
PS: I'll add you on PSN tonight...along with the others

I will message you all tomorrow night on PSN with name of room.

In future, please use the EDIT button rather than triple-posting. - interludes

If there is an obvious advantage in lap times how about coming up with some rules when you have both to test to achieve some type of parity?

If that's not achievable we could have a commodore cup and ford cup but run them both at the same time numbers pending. This would give us a full grid but holdens would only be competing against holdens and fords against fords.

I don't have either yet but some type of championship or leaderboard would be cool.

I dont own the Ford mate so I cant compare lap times

i am now the proud owner of the monaro and vy ss
im currently doing a bob'durance but after that ill rebuild the engines and see what the stats are between them.
From memory the monaro was slightly heavier by around 9kg and had slightly less power
also bobs driving but it seems to be much more of a handfull for him then the commodore did... he seems to be losing the back a lot... will test the difference between the 2 and get some laptimes down

will test laptimes with fully tuned engines with race setup and stock setup

Hey, where were you tonight?

Nobody from GTP showed up so I started a AU/NZ HOLDENS ONLY room.......had about 4 aussies racing the Monaros and VY SS

ok, i tested both the Monaro and the SS, they both weigh the exact same around 1350kg, they both have the exact same horsie's just under 750hp. they have slightly different dimensions... so i took them to my personal test tack Grand Valley i believe this track is great for testing as it really brings out the worst in your cars oversteer/understeer issues... i tried the stock setup but they handled so badly i couldn't put any consistent laps in. After i gave both cars a very similar setup i did 5 practice laps followed by 5 laps thats times would be averaged out at the end.. i used medium race rubber and in the Monaro i got a average time of 1m56.156 the SS a average of 1m56.126 ..... but worth noting is the Monaro was a very difficult car to drive and i didnt come close to unlocking its full potential... on the other side the SS was so planted on the ground and was very easy to get consistent times with..... all in all they have similar times but handle very differently... in the right hands, the Monaro is faster but in the wrong hands....slower
