I'm yet to post in the Honda Fan Club thread, but they should have a forum, for three reasons:

1. Two other fan clubs have a forum - the Nissan one, and the Mazda one. This Nissan one hasn't been posted in since November 19, and the Mazda one hasn't been touched since December 1. Meanwhile, the Honda one gets posted in every day.

2. The Honda club's thread has almost as many posts as the Mazda forum, 4121 vs. 4167.

3. There are several threads in the Cars in General forum that always bounce to the top, cluttering the forum and making new threads harder to notice (like the 'Pic of you and your girlfriend' and the 'Weather' threads in the Rumble Strip). The Honda thread is one of them, and giving the group its own forum eliminates at least one of those threads.

For the record, the thread I'm referring to is this one, and the forums I'm referring to are the Mazda Association Zone and the Nissan Performance Zone. By no means am I advocating shutting them down - just adding Honda.

I'm personally against the idea. The Mazda and Nissan forums are pretty much dead. I don't want that to happen to the Honda thread.

I'm also against the idea; Since the Cars in General forum doesn't have a ton of activity, it's pretty easy to spot the new threads.

Maybe create a sub-forum for all the car clubs, but that's also not necessary.

Having the Honda thread out there can spark interest. Someone is browsing the forums, and sees "Honda Fan Club" And thinks, oh, I like Hondas, I'll go check it out.

If there's a sub forum for Honda, most people aren't going to "stroll" through there often. I know I don't, and I'm very fond of Nissans and Mazdas.

I've looked through many pages on the tail end of the thread and can't find the last time you guys had a new poster. It's the same ~7 of you over and over. This could be done in a sub-forum and considering the motivated fanbase, you shouldn't have a problem with activity.

I say Honda gets its own forum. There's probably more Honda owners among all the GTP members, and based on the size of the thread, Doug's right.

Of course, most of these sub-forums tend to dry up a bit.

Every time I browse the Automotive forums, I see the "Honda Fan Club" thread up near the top and think "I don't care for Hondas, I'm not going in there, and don't want to see this thread hogging the top of the board all the time".

There is one other thread in "Cars in General" that also tends to bother me - partly for the amount of traffic it gets, and party because I believe it would better fit in "Videos & Photos". I'll let Doug guess which one I'm talking about.

The best thread on GTPlanet?!

So do admins check this or what? Let's get a ruling here and get the Honda thing changed.

I haven't really decided what I want to do here yet. I've been considering closing down the other two forums for a while now so I must be careful before opening another one up... The thread may not have the longevity to warrant a forum of its own.

I feel the same way about plenty of threads, that's not a reason to make a subforum. And it's not like if the Honda thread stopped "hogging up" the top of the board, a bunch of other threads would start popping up.

Don't do it Jordan!

"As Honda enthusiasts we hate Mazda and Nissan. We're also very happy that there is no Toyota thread, or at least not one that is any good. We are proud to be better fans and enthusiasts than Nissan, Mazda, and Toyota owners, and we enjoy displaying Honda's magnificence by being seen on the top of the list in the Cars in General forum as often as possible. We will not accept being associated with the lesser brands of Mazda and Nissan unless all their threads are combined into one 'Mazda Fan Club' and 'Nissan Fan Club' and put into the Cars in General forum as our HFC is now, while we get our own forum. They obviously won't be cluttering anything anyway.

-Members of the Honda Fan Club."

The jury has spoken.

I think the best thing about the current setup is that all that Honda related chatter is in one place. A single thread.

I think with a separate forum, any number of useless threads will be made that cover the same topics that were originally talked about in the first thread. With so many threads to cover posters will lose interest. I prefer it just being in the one thread in this case - I think it works perfectly well for the people that actually post in the thread.

I agree that it's mostly the same small, handful of people that post there, and because of that most of the posts are just chatter. In a separate forum I think these posts will turn into separate threads with just a few reply posts and the whole thing will hold little value.

I support keeping the current setup.

I don't like the idea of moving this thread, it's gaining enough interest where it is to keep it going at a constant pace. Judging by what happened to the other threads, im not all that keen on your proposal M5power.
