Due to the 2007 regulation change agreement among Lexus, Nissan, and Honda for 2009 season (all GT500 cars must be FR and use 3.4L V8), 2008 was the final year for NSX unless it was converted into FR. However, the massive recession which began with the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy caused GT Association to let Honda (also, Nissan) use the same engine and car as 2008 on condition that they receive the performance adjustment. Considering the commercial advertisement (they did make a FR NSX test car so not due to the technical difficulty), Honda decided to keep NSX MR, so they also received the MR weight handicap as usual.

Meanwhile, YOSHIKI, a member of X JAPAN (a visual-kei rock band) and the executive producer of Rockstar Energy Drink Japan, collaborated with Dome Racing Team as the team wanted to be publicly recognized while YOSHIKI loved racing so much that he once sponsored a Formula Nippon team. The result turned out not so good, but the team merchandise sold so well that few die-cast models can be found still sold as a brand-new (as far as I tried to find them), partly because of X JAPAN (its fanbase is huge in Japan).
