Hood view?

Using standard cars with a wheel is AWFUL.
Standard cars don't have a cockpit?
Ok... let's play with the hood view...
THERE ISN'T A HOOD VIEW and it would be THE EASIEST THING for PD to add it!!!
A nissan silvia in the license test HAS IT.
With the hood view, driving standard cars will become nearly natural as driving premium cars! Then, there will be really 1000 cars to drive!!!!!
Tweet Kazunori about that! Tweet it also in japanese if you know the language (he only answers japanese tweets in the last days....)
This is the best and easiest improvement for GT5... they are working for a patch, we need to say it to them!!!!!

I play with the roof view and a wheel every day. It's really not that hard.

Unnecessary thread is...unnecessary.

I'm also waiting for this, I have been using the bumper cam for both standard and premiums because I like to use the same point of view. Can't wait to start using the cockpit/hood view!

You know that you can get through the game using 95% premium cars only. So just buy premium and you can just ignore the used car market(your loss).

But whil eyou can compensate fo rthe bumper cam and use it, it is not really "like drivinng" as you are ahead of the front wheels. And far below the drivers natural head height.

If I wanted to drive like that I would not be playing the "driving simulator" ;)

Well you played GT like that up until Prologue, so what's the big deal? You make no sense.

I'm not going to work out the actual %, but it's certainly less than 95. I can think of a couple of events right off hand that require standard cars.

In last time, I like the hood view more than cockpit view. I mentioned, that cockpit view doesn´t give you the correct feeling of what the car is behaving at the moment. The hood cam does this is all parts.

TBH i don't even use the cockpit view on the premiums...I usually just use the bumper cam. I would love a hood view though. If all cars got a hood view, i would no longer look down on the standard cars. It can't be that hard to implement in a patch, can it?💡

No. It would take PD's janitor about five minutes to script this and it would add like 2KB to a patch. Telling the game where to set the camera is one of the simplest, most rudimentary things that could ever be done for the game.

I agree with the OP.
that has been one major downfall of all the GT games.
Hood view at the level of the drivers eyes.

Yes cockpit view is a nice gimmick for watching the steering-wheel turn, etc
but the ideal view is the hood view.

when you're actually driving a real car (fast) and you're concentrating on the road ahead of you you are not focusing on the steering wheel, mirrors, gauges and all that stuff.
yes you do "see" it in your peripheral vision, but it's not in focus like it appears on a TV screen (and takes up most of it)
Your actual focus is the front corners of the car relative to the edges of the road/ lane and what's forward of the bonnet.

All of the Race Driver games (including the original TOCA Touring Cars) have had this view and it's the optimum one to simulate what you actually see while driving

The problem is they have to code an XYZ coordinate for the camera for ALL 1031 cars in the game. Since some of them are repeats, this would obviously be easier, but it isn't so simple as telling it once. It has to be in the camera coding for every car.

Even if they kept it a consistent position for all cars, but higher up than the bumper cam, it'd be an improvement.

While I don't understand why there's no hood view, I have no problem using a wheel with the Roof Cam.

I guess, in hood view you could see one or two not correctly placed pixels on about seven of the eight hundred standard cars and so pd decided to not implement this view...

WOW not a fan of people voicing opinions.

Obviously a lot of people care about this since it has had lots of replies in a short period of time. One way that PD might find out that people care about a specific feature is threads like this. Bye suppressing such a thread you would be suppressing the forward development of the game.

I would like to make a vote that you NEVER EVER BECOME A MODERATOR :(

OH ALSO

I would also like to see this view on all the cars. The bumper view is to hard to use in traffic since if you are right on someone's rear you can't see whats in front of you like a turn another car or your breaking cues.

Also it makes blind turns more difficult and even makes non blind turns well blind!!!

My rule of thumb for bumper cam is that the gauges at the bottom represent where your car is. I then give a small buffer zone off of the gauges.
It took a bit of getting used to, but for me it makes some blind corners much easier because i have a wide FOV without parts of my car obstructing it.

I used the hood view for most of prologue, but then I decided to try out the bumper cam for a while and found that my lap times immediately decreased compared to when using hood view.

I simply have more control in the bumper cam view than the hood view, and I think this change has to do with each view's field of vision.

That being said, I don't miss the hood view much. PD's decision to place the camera on the roof instead of the hood is a bit puzzling though. Is it possible that no hood view is provided because of standard cars? Some standard cars have symbols, decals, and whatnot on the hood. Maybe the hood view revealed the low quality of some standard cars.

I miss the hood view as well. I'm not a big complainer by any means, but this would be near the top of my list of updates I'd like to see in GT5. I can't see this as being an overly difficult feature to add, either.

If you find this thread unnecessary go post somewhere else or do something else that you find more necessary.
Its me that cant understand why it would be such a problem to have one more simple option.

I myself only play racing games with the hood view - even in those with the best cockpit views because it kills the imersion for me to see 4 hands and two wheels and Ive been waiting for more than 6 years for a GT game with a hood view - how hard car it be - its the closest thing to what I see when Im driving my real car.

Even in the premium cars I chose the bumper view because I dont have a hood view available and besides what I pointed out before I dont like seeing the virtual driver shift and steer half a second after me.

The bumper view is too close to the ground to feel right to me...

I do fine with bumper view but they really do need to add a hood view.

why the heck did they add roof view? who the heck drives from top of the roof other then Jeremy Clarkson, and gang? (TG vs. D Motor - double decker racing)

hood view should have been standard since atleast GT4.
