I've always hated that about GT games how the tyre smoke has always been not alot and very unrealistic, I'm hoping for GT5 there's loads more tyre smoke.

Who agrees?

in the video where the citroen concept spin, it seems to have more smoke than gt5p..
 
I'd like the smoke to be more realistic too. But i'd like a lot of things on the game to be more realistic.;)
 
I would like better tire smoke and tire marks, but if it's not in the game it wouldn't bother me too much.
 
It would be great to see tyre smoke and skid marks, but I guess you have to draw the line on how much detail you could show on the track, what would happen to the build up of tyre marks during an endurance race!

What about road debris and the rubber marbles that build up outside of the racing line? maybe a bit too much detail?
 
Actually the rubber marbles thing is a fantastic idea. you should definitely loose grip if you go off the racing line, if you are racing in true simulation mode. it wouldn't be that hard to incorporate into the game, surely...

how about some freakin reverse lights while we are at it, aye? for a game that is a "simulation" i would have thought reverse lights would have been a sure thing. its not as if its hard, and they will definitely need to be incorporated if they are actually going to have night driving.
 
I guess the racing line (darker areas of the track) should give you slightly more grip? whether or not they can visually implement the marbles without too much of a hit on frame rate though?
 
Even the old smoke will be more real if it will be affected by wind, and not just appear and vanish at the same spot, but drift to the side of the track or right in the other's drivers faces.

That's a great idea too!!

EDIT* It would just be so cool to rip up a big burnout or a few donuts and have a huge load of tyre smoke.
 
the tyre smoke has gotten much better in GT5P than the last ones. It doesn't seem like it, but they're almost as think as the dust clouds (which are pretty thick). I think the only way to improve them is with to make them a bit thicker, much more fluffy, and have them surround the whole wheelarch - not just where the tyre meets the ground.
 
If the smoke can be as realistic as GTA4 when doing burnouts were it atcually wrappes around the wheel ill be very pleased, especially since they have drifting and sponsor D1GP/

Ive also notice the same exact thing, GT5 trailer smokes seems totally different from GT5P smokes, more smoke, but seems to be different in delevery too, lets hope we have better smoke for final game. Skid marks will be great too, but only if it act on grip physic too, i dont want skidmark only for ''beauty''.
 
This has been one of my pet hates about GT5P. It's not only the amount of smoke that's too little, but the duration it lasts also.
I think that the denisty of dust in GT5P is more representative of smoke, but it needs to last longer and become affected by the wind and the drag created by other cars.
It'd be tricky to do, but looking at the level of detail they've gone into with the damage, it seems small comparatively.

Do we know for sure that GT5 will be in 1080P. If so we'll have all the detail we want.
