There are so many threads about age of players, opinions of players and so on.
I'd like to know about players themselves, we are all real people and all have a real life.
I'd say from being on this site you're into GT but what else can you say for yourself?

To get the ball rolling I'll diverge a little bit about myself as I really do wonder about all you GT-heads out there.
(nothing too personal; card details - no, insurance numbers - no, address - no.....)

Age: 24

Residence : China

Occupation: Primarily an English teacher to middle school kids. Own a tea house (mainly hands off though). Write for a motorcycle trade magazine once a month.

Background: Sucked at school and left early. Excelled at engineering at college. Had more different kinds of job than most I know, from landscaping to bar management.

Hobbies: Sitting on my sofa doing nothing much, drinking beers. Building things (I am male). Saving the planet from global thingy one rant at a time.

Personality: Quite easy going, wildly aggressive when frustrated (mainly from GT!). A bit selfish but also very honest and law abiding for the most part. Depressive at times, bipolar. (Going through the darkness now so I thought I'd throw in an edit.)

So how about you? Who is on the end of that internet cable when I bump into you online? Please enlighten me. Go on... don't be shy.

Thanks for the input, I've wondered for a long time who people on this forum actually are.
I just assumed the majority were 12 year old kids and this forum had replaced the school ground, I guess I was wrong!

After I came back from Iraq the first time I purchased a 2007 VW GTI beginning my VW/Audi obsession. The car now has built internals, a garret GT30 turbo, revo software, coilovers, on and on. Dynoed at 412 whp and 337 lb. Ft. of torque. Now I'm out of the military and I work at a VW dealer and do performance work on the side. I think that covers it.

^Me too.

I left England (London, my home) at 21 because of the lack of opportunity.
GT is the only I continued with after leaving school! Football, cycling and PC gaming was finished for me then.

I'm planning to leave too, probably to Tokyo, Japan. I've been before, it was awesome.

Went to Tokyo for a weekend away last year, it's a great place but very expensive. Cost me a weeks salary for 2 days of binge drinking. The girls are stunningly good looking.:sly:

A robot!

This is a pretty interesting thread idea (though probably one better suited to The Rumble Strip), though I won't be able to really reply until I get my Lappy fixed (the PS3 browser is rather annoying for long posts).

I know

I'd like to get Skyline GT-R when I'm there, they're pretty cheap now. Then hit the Wangan highway. People still race there.

Don't worry, I'm human, I think. The fact is most people say I'm a soulless nobody.

Age 33

Location England

Occupation Lecturer (motor vehicle technology)

Background - Left school, went to college for two years, studying BTEC National in motor vehicle technology. Completed that, then done my apprenticeship at a standard garage for 3 years, left thst and went to a Renault dealership for 3 years.
I then retrained as auto electrician, which I done for 6 years. I then got fed up fixing ungrateful customers cars, and moved to the educational side of the trade.
Been working in my current position for 3 years, have completed my teaching qualifications upto cert ed, and that's where we are today.

Things I do - Bit of playstation,I play football, occasionally go to the gym, spend time with the misses, I occasionally have a drink, enjoy fine wines, eating out and being sarcastic. I use to have a 78 mini, that I done up (spent about 3 grand on it) , but moved to the electric and stereo side when I was an auto electrician so I went mad on the stereo on my cars. Have now grown out of all that, but still occasionally have the urge to fiddle with it!

I'm amazed at the maturity of most people who have posted here. Generally decent, regular people and not the 12 year old kids on their school internet I was expecting.

Currently watching the 2010 super GT race at Fuji online, I'd love to get out there next year and see one in the flesh!

dhandes, I did the same Btec at the same time as my NVQ3, but the year I started they introduced a motor sport tech course for two years so I opted for that.

They didn't have NVQ's when I first left school, but when I retrained as a auto electrician, I done the level 2 and 3 NVQ at the same time.

Age: 16

Residence: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Occupation: Student

Background: I'm still a student, in High School. Was born in a small city called Klang. Then moved to Kuala Lumpur when I was 4 years old where I started to have a normal life like school etc.

Gran Turismo History: I started to get to know GT when I was 8 years old, and it was the GT2. I was too young, know nothing about these as I just play around like normal kids do. When I first got my PS2 somewhere in 2004, I started to play GT3, the successor of GT2 and I wasn't much a fan of it. You know, typical young kids who love to play NFS Underground. When I get a little bit older, by means 12 years old, I started to understand what is car and that, this. Since then, I never played NFS much and get my hands on GT4. But only in 2008 I put in a lot of effort and attention in GT4. Today, I'm stuck at 99.6% completion of GT4 with 2 more 24 Hours races still to go... I might not be able to have GT5 and PS3 until at least early 2012. I have big exam this year...

Hobbies: I collect cars, scale model. I also collect some DVDs mainly movies, surfing the internet especially GTP. Obviously, Gran Turismo. Love to watch Top Gear or any motorsport every weekend from BTCC to the old F1 races. They're incredibly enjoyable!

Personality: I'm open, easy going, love to make friends everywhere I go. I might be selfish sometimes and a bit of an arrogant lad but I might know if what I did wrong, I apologise.

Other details: I'm a massive German car fan, especially BMW. I love Top Gear a lot and I have a bit of interest in computers. My favourite food will be Pastas, every kind of pasta and Pizza (I should say Italian foods). Favourite circuit are the Nurbrugring-Nordschleife, the Guia Circuit, Macau and Spa-Francorchamps. Favourite car is the M5.

I don't know what else to add, and think that covers it all up. Thanks ;)

I remember being maybe 8 years old and all I wanted for Xmas was this new GT game that my friends were talking about, and a memory card for the original PS. Got them both and started my GT fanatisism that day and never looked back!

Going further then the age, :scared:

Age: 38, but moving soon to 39

Residence : Luxembourg (but a bit of Belgium and France too, it is complicated and Luxembourg is small)

Occupation: Line function reporting to the CEO, specialist on Control, Risk and legal matters.

Background: Whow, I'm old you know. I would keep it at Msc in Mechanical Engineering (mainly production techniques) and MBA. Been active in Production improvement, Software quality, Business Management Software implementation, Aircraft Maintenance Management software implementation, Car and Aircraft design software implementation before.

Hobbies: GT5, GT5p, Cars, walking, sports, Motorcycling, Wine, Whisky, Science, gardening, renovating ...

Gran Turismo History: GT5p since May 2009, before I was into "Pits Stop" and "Test Drive" in the 80ies on Commodore 64. I had a long break.

Personality: Fairly easy going if it does not take to long (quickly bored), difficult (I like to analyse and ask questions), perfectionist, but more interested in the overview then the detail, trustworthy.

I'd like to add for people that care to share:
Family situation: married for over 5 years, no relationship on the side, no children and only toy animals.

I'm quite a fan of science my self Vince_Fiero (I study metaphysics and thermodynamics in my spare time), although whiskey is something I enjoy from time to time to break the monotony of beer drinking.

Oh yeah, forgot about the whisky.

I've been known to consume a few bottles myself. Mainly Scotch single-malts like Lagavulin, Talisker or Oban to name a few.
