How can I Improve my DR?

hey guys, i got the update to play online last weekend and have been placing top 5 in the last few races and putting in clean fast laps in GR.3. My SR is at A not far from S, but my DR is still stuck at D, any tips?

For all I believe it goes up for podium placement in sport. Possibly for placing higher than your starting position.

Seems to be that way. I have been plodding along starting 12th finishing 8th and my C rating has been creeping up slowly. When I was D 3 wins took me to the C.

Race clean and finish a few positions higher than you started. It takes lots of races to move up. You can check your progress within rank in your profile page. Under your DR rank is a line/bar graph that shows how far into a rank you are.

Hi,

definitively not. Yesterday I did two races: first from 4th on the grid ended 5th, second from 3rd on the grid ended 4th. So in both races lost one position from starting position, none of them ends on the podium.

Before those two races I was rated "C", close to "B", now I'm rated "B". In both races I had a majority grid of "C"with only a few (2 or 3) "B"-drivers.

But: I needed four races with four wins to climb from "E" to "D" and five races with four wins and one podium to climb from "D" to "C". @ElementRacer how is your progress inside of "D" found in the options? I guess very vclose to "C"....

cheers,
D.

I reckon that it's worked based on your laptimes globally. If you are consistently hitting quick times in races then it will trickle up.

I wouldn't rush to get in to the upper categories unless you're winning every race you enter - I don't understand why people want to up it really quickly as it'll put you against much faster drivers and your chances of winning/ competing in races goes down...

To each their own

THIS

i had one race in Dragon Tail where they threw my D grade ass into a room with A's and B's. My "killer" lap time literally started me in 11th place. Not only was I the bottom rung of the grade with people who were a few seconds shy of the record lap, but the SR scores were allover the place and I kept getting rammed by anybody i passed. After that, the game top-seeded me in the next race but I feel like it tests you against higher grades periodically, if you're performing above your grade, to see if you can progress and then it pulls you back to your grade if you fail.

It all depends on the strength of field (SOF) compared to your own rating. If u are C and the entire field is C you need to be in the top half of the field. If u are C and the field is 5 C drivers while the rest are D or E u probably need top 3 finish to gain DR. If u are C and the rest is all B u can gain by finishing 15th of 20.

The finish position itself is not what decides if u gain or lose DR. It is the position u finish vs where you are rated in the lobby.

So it’s just an ELO rating then? Beat those ranked similarly to yourself and you move up a little, best someone higher up and move up more?

Just don't worry about overtakes as your priority but being fast. There's no way around it. It doesn't really matter where you finish or if you made some positions (I got DR bumps for finishing 6th and for dropping positions too). Just be as fast as possible and consistent. Especially consistent. It doesn't matter if you're the fastest on track if you're spinning every few races. From what I've seen, if you do a mistake on 1 out of every 4 races (like starting high on the grid and finishing way bellow because you spun out) your DR will hardly move.

Keep in mind your DR will go down if you perform exceptionally poorly. When I got to C for the first time, had bad race, poled 4th, finished last.... My DR went down an entire grade, a whole xp bar.

(100th POST!!!!! ...only took me 14 YEARS)

I have no idea how it works. I've been D/S since the second day! I almost always finish higher than my starting position and yet I'm still on D.
I don't have the time to put in more than 2 or 3 races a day if even, so maybe I just need to race more. But I don't have the time.

Its the position you qualify in races and the finish position. Quality in the top 5 and finish top 3 will boost your DR.

Qualifying good and finishing bad will take it down.

Qualifying bad and finish position good will increase it ever so slightly.

Idea is to be consistent and make you a better driver.

Do not race on tracks which you are not 100% confident.

And it goes up faster if you do this in higher-quality fields. So make sure you set a good practice time trial time also.

Won a good race today. Qualified in position 2. I was 3/4 of the way up D and I was up against an entire field of C rated drivers. I remember starting the race wondering how badly this would affect my rating when I finished last. Managed to actually win cleanly (somehow) with a gap of 3 secs between me and the guy in second. Took me from D to halfway up C.

Oh gawd again it happens. Just when i am about to go C,at the last moment it goes wrong.

3rd last corner at Suzuka and someone rams me down into the barriers. 10 sec pen, finished 13th. DR gone down again. Jeez.

Yeah, I think the best strategy is to start qualifying early, learn the track, get pole position or close to it, race, hold the lead and win... Easier said than done of course, but if you just discipline yourself for that strategy and not stray or bother with jumping right into races, just because they're starting soon, you'll temper yourself and guard a steady rise of your DR.

Qualify a good time. Stay consistent, finish at higher place seems to be helping me. Finishing podium seems to make the biggest difference. Still moving up quickly and I'm at a B now.

Yeah! I've also started doing laps with my favourite car and then doing laps in cars I know are going to be preferred by other racers. Just so I know what to expect and what to look out for and when would be a good time to make a move should the opportunity arise. And like @FUNanywhere and @BIGBEN aim to qualify as high as you can. If you're not happy with the time do it again.

Just not working for me. Simply not.

In Sport Mode, first you gotta learn the track, car and then set time on top of it. Too much time it requires.

If you just hop in after setting a decent time then its middle of the pack for you and its difficult then.

Eventually no matter how good you do, there will be 1-2 races where you will screw up and or someone else does for you impacting DR.

Nope. Losing interest a little now. They have to have some races weekly. This just doesn't cut it for me.

In my 5 races this morning I managed to jump from D-E to B-B! I kid you not! Two I had from pole. And one from 7th! Well down the grid on the others but kept it clean and improved my ratings...
Not sure I can compete for wins in this higher class bracket but I'll try and hold it down now... And get better racing quicker drivers :)

What is really annoying me is the current state of matchmaking. I am current C S but most races I have the top 6/7 are B S and just disappear after the first corner. The rest of us battle it out but the best we can finish is 7/8

From what I figure eventually you'll hit your natural Dr level and then you'll have to get really better to get to the next. I know my natural level is B and I'll have to keep working to get it there (I'm a little past halfway on C). Once I hit B I know I'm going to have a harder time getting higher.

I don't mind starting middle of the pack. It's where I've actually had the best races and had to really drive like the devil was after me. Not only do you have to get thru at least 4-5 ahead you also have to defend and attack at the same time. If you start at the middle it just means someone practiced longer or was better than you or sometimes just bad luck. I haven't backed out of a single race ever.

Initially I was pissed if I finished lower than when I started but I realise it was because either I made a mistake or someone else did. I watch every replay about 10 to 15 times just to see what I could have done better.
