I'm trying to add a game from a disc to my computer, but whenever I install it it gets around 10% in on the progress bar and then it says "Unable to install on (Insert location where game gets installed here)"

Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)

What game?
NR2003, I made a copy of it to save the original disc (Which goes for up to 100 dollars on eBay), I got it working after downloading a version of it online, I guess my expensive disc is now useless :(

Normally the program is not really worth anything.
The main thing you pay for is the key

Depends on what you are trying to do.

If you are copying the contents of the Disc to the Hard Drive, and then installing from the hard drive it might not work (since installers look for files held in D: or E: drives), only way to do that is creating an image from the disc, and then use a virtual unit.

Or, if you are installing directly from the disc, it might be scratched or maybe the reading lent needs a bit more aperture for it to read the disc.

Not really, some installers use the temp directory as a place to see where files are held and it is location is universal across windows from XP and since the install detects which windows you are running it just changes some script values for where it has to store files.

For Windows Vista and later
%UserProfile%/appdata/local/temp
or
%UserProfile%/local settings/temp

For Windows XP
%UserProfile%/local settings/temp

If you were to add the line %UserProfile%/local settings/temp in Vista/7/8's run in the start menu it will direct you to %UserProfile%/appdata/local/temp
This is where most installers add files since they dont matter if they get deleted once the installer has done its job.
