How can I stop it?

I mean stop windows from popping in. It is like I am looking into a webpage and suddenly the one behind it pops in. For those who still dont understand. For example: I may click on a link on here, then click on the other window, and as I am looking at it, the one in here pops in. It is really annoying the hell off me. How can I fix it?

Download TweakUI. Go to the Focus Menu>Check "Prevent Applications from stealing Focus". That should solve it. TweakUI is a great little program for tweaking Windows.

:P I think.

I'd do what Matrixhasu77 says first. Then try: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Restore Defaults.

1mic: You're an ass****, stay out of the computer forums.

TD, you've very likely got a hijacker program some where in your computer. With notes the other day about problems, take a few hours and read up on this site www.spywareinfo.com

In particular this page http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/

something on that site should give you an inclining of whats running on your computer that shouldn't be.

I'd also suggest breaking down and investing $70 in a software firewall. That will let you know how many different programs are trying to connect to the web without you knowing. IT'll also prevent them as well.

It isn't anything spyware or the like, it's an OS default and can be fixed by using TweakUI like Matrixhasu said.

Trust me go to lose the link for TweakUI, but this should be able to help you.

woops just read your post tercel, but take my advice from the first post, stop visiting untrusted sites, maybe you also need pop up killer?

I have a couple of browsers on my machine. One is Microsoft IE and the other is Mozilla (there are probably similarities between Mozilla and Netscape, but I haven't had NS installed on a machine of mine in years).

I use IE for my general browsing - especially sites that I have to use (browsing the web is in my job description). But for my other recreational browsing or browsing where I know there'll be popups, I use Mozilla. While there are a few convenience-type features missing, it really shines above IE with its tabbed browsing (multiple browsers window can show up as tabs within one Mozilla window) and a hardcore popup blocker (you designate which sites are allowed to pop up extra windows on you).
