how do i backup my savegame ??

Hi,

I have searched this forum and found a zillion answers about usb flash drives and fotomode, but i can't find how I can backup my game progress.

Since I lost everything ( cars and tracks ) before due to corrupt data on my memory card, I want to backup every few days.

I have several usb flash drives ( cruzer 128 MB micro, apacers steno 256 MB and apacer steno 512 MB) I inserted them but i never can see the usb stick.

Am I doing something wrong here ?? or is it not possible ??

I have read here that the cruzer micro works with fotomode, so the PSTWO can work with this flash drive.

you cant copy it to a flash drive. you have to use the PS2 control panel and a second memory card

Buy another memory card, or if you have a HD you can back it up on that.

You'll need two memory cards, and copy the save game using the PS2 browser section.
Don't try and save the GT4 game onto a new card through GT4 itself, this won't work.
You MUST go copy the file through the PS2 browser.

I think you are confused. You can't save your game progress to a USB drive. You can only transferring saved photos or replays from your PS2 memory card to a USB drive.

I'm thinking of doing this myself. Is there risk of screwing up your savegame by copying it like stated above. ^^

You can always save your game on 2 memory cards. Do whatever testing on 1 of them, if anything bad happens you always have another one to back up.

You CAN backup your savegame with a MAXDRIVE or X-port.

MAXDRIVE = Its an USB flashdrive and it comes with its own Software.

The Software lets you copy saves from your memcard to the USB drive and vice versa.​

X-port = is a device that you put your memcard in and can connect to your PC via USB. (manufacturing of x-port has stopped)

With the savegames on your PC you can share them over the Internet! Therefore you see those savegames in *.max format or *.xps

(An USB stick will never be visible in the PS2 browser screen! untill sony comes with an version update for it to recognize)

Everyone pretty much has it right. The only ways to back-up your save is to have the hard drive, a extra memory card, or a AR Max or sharkport or similiar device.
