ok so my problem is tht i cant get the top speed i know my Camaro can get. It speeds up to 120 and stops. WTF

So......One, if i were to put a better transmission on my camaro, would it still a 4 speed, and would it go faster then 120?

If not, i would appreciate it if there was anyother wayy tht u guys might know of!

THANKS

Wow. Giant typeface there. Don't worry, we won't miss the normal-size type.

If you install a full-custom transmission, it will have 6 gears, no matter how many the original car had. It will also give you the option to lengthen the final drive ratio if you need to. That should get you out of the redline zone.

Sorry for going a bit off-topic...The Nissan GT-R Concept has 7 gears stock, and with a full-custom transmission, it still has 7, not 8 or 6.

And yes, widen or lengthen the autoset and it will probably go 150.

...unless you mean 120 kph! :dunce:

Yea its an older one, i put the new transmission in it and i've gotten up to 220mph. But its handling isnt the best but, o well.

Ya, well it I guess not. Can't even imagine what my old 69 would have done at 220mph....probably just explode into tiny bits and me along with it. :)

Actually, you need have only dropped it, ran moon caps, and weighed it down to 4-5000lbs to keep it on the ground. Oh, and make about 6-700hp or better.

Actually, that was a '67, maybe '68, whatever.

Do the full race transmission.
Then do the "tranny" trick.
From there it's just a matter of finding the right final drive ratio.

What I did was to get a full-custom transmission, and then I looked up the transmission specs (gear ratios) for each car. ( Just don't shift higher than 4 gear...lol ) Here are some links that might help. Camaro; http://www.nastyz28.com/faq/trans.htm#muncieratios Dodge Charger http://www.dodgecharger.org/html/performance.html Plymouth SuperBird; http://autospeed.com/cms/A_108382/article.html 69 Corvette; http://www.69corvette.com/69specs.html Ford GT40; http://www.gt40superformance.com/gt40-specifications.aspx And last, this one is cool,"The following empiriclly determines the best final (differential) gear ratio to use, based on top speed MPH, tire diameter, and the RPM where the horsepower curve peaks out. Also computed is the maximum practical gear ratio to use." http://www.bgsoflex.com/bestgear.html Have fun!
